Putnam Co. Celebrates National EMS Week With Saturday Community Fair

Putnam County celebrates National EMS Week this Saturday.

EMS Chief Tommy Copeland said emergency personnel are hosting a community fair to show people what it is like to work the job.

“We’re going to have some demonstrations and some ambulances and the bus,” Copeland said. “Weather permitted, we’re going to have Erlanger’ aircraft. We’re also going to do some demonstration stations doing some CPR.”

Copeland said the event begins at 9:00 a.m. until noon at the Putnam County Health Department. Copeland said attendees can tour the emergency vehicles and also learn skills that help during emergencies.

“Doing car seat checks, we will actual check your car seat and make sure it is safe for your children,” Copeland said. “Stop the bleed demonstrations and different things we want to do for the community and kind of show the highlights of some of the things we do.”

Copeland said the county has been recognizing EMS workers all week, and Saturday will be the culminating event.

“It will be a fun time for everybody,” Copeland said. “We’ll have some free stuff for the kids. Hopefully, everybody will walk away better informed about what we have in our capabilities and some things they can do to help themselves, as well.”
