Third Thursday Concert Makes Way Back to Dogwood Park

The Third Thursday concert series returns this summer, and the Cookeville community is invited to grab a blanket and head over to Dogwood Park to enjoy some live music.

Cookeville Cultural Arts Superintendant Chad McDonald said the community can expect another great series this year.

“We have different music every week this year from rock-n-roll and blues in the opening concert to jazz and bluegrass and we’ve even got an oldies band in June,” McDonald said. “We have quite a few different kinds of music this year.”

McDonald said the concert series has been going for many years because of its popularity, and said there are many reasons for why it keeps coming back to Cookeville.

“Music in the park is a great thing to do in the summer, also especially in this climate with COVID, it’s a great opportunity to get out and do something in a safer environment,” McDonald said. “Third Thursdays in the park are free, so there should be no monetary reason you don’t come see the show.”

McDonald said he think it is popular because it appeals to a many types of audiences and has a genre for every music-lover.

“People love to come to the park and sit outside and listen to music,” McDonald said. “It’s not the only concert series we have, but it is a popular one and I think people like it because we offer a variety of music.”

Admission is free, and concessions will be available. The first concert is May 20th featuring rock and blues singer Jake Ziegler.
