Friends of the Art Circle Public Library in Crossville is having a week long book clearance sale starting Friday.
Board Member Louise Nee said all books are half priced and will be restocked daily.
“There is a lot of fiction,” Nee said. “Hard cover and soft cover and paperbacks in fiction, non-fiction. There’s politics and history, medicine foreign language and children’s books. Lots of children’s books.”
Nee said the majority of books are either surplus from the library or come in by public donation. Nee said the profit from the sale goes straight back to the library to help with operations.
“It funds the library’s, mostly programs and materials,” Nee said. “The library of course is funded by the county taxes and that only goes so far. So that is what the Friends are for.”
Nee said the whole idea is to get books into the hands of people that want them while supporting a good cause. The sale will run on the honor system. Payments by ash or check can be dropped in the secure honor box in the library’s book store.
“The hardbacks are going to be going for 50 cents each, and they’re in pretty good condition,” Nee said. “Paper backs will be 25 cents. The larger soft covers are 25 cents each. Children’s books are two for a quarter.”
The sale will take place during library hours at at 3 East Street.
