Sparta is getting a jump on spring leaf cleaning by helping residents remove any leftover leaves.
Public Works Director Dillard Quick said that its leaf collection truck will be running all week from 7:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Quick said that public works tried to line up its leaf collection with residents cleaning their yards.
“The guys are just going to ride around, if anybody’s got any leaves out that they want us to pick up just make sure they call 738-2281 ,” Quick said. “We’ll make sure that the message gets to the guys to clean it up and vacuum up the leaves for them.”
That number again to schedule a leaf pick up in Sparta is 738-2281.
Quick said residents just need to get their leaves to the street and they will be collected for free. He said residents leaving limbs in their leaf piles can cause damage to the leaf collection machine.
