TTU Students Take Advantage Of Mass COVID Vaccine Clinic

About 350 Tennessee Tech students were vaccinated Thursday at the university’s mass COVID vaccination clinic.

Senior Business Management Student John Forth was one of those students who took advantage of the event. He said the overall process took about 15 minutes.

“I recently received COVID way back a couple months into school, and I know I will be traveling in the later future,” Forth said. “So, I wanted to be sure I was vaccinated, so I knew I would be verified when I go back to the airport.”

Health Services with the help of the Putnam County Health Department began vaccinations at 9:00 a.m. outside the Hooper Eblen Center. Health Services Director Leigh Ann Ray said she calls the day a success.

“It is a tremendous success,” Ray said. “It is a far better turn out than we have even expected.”

Ray said vaccine recipients will return to the same location in three weeks to receive a second shot. The county health department supplied the university with the Pfizer vaccines. Ray said if you missed your chance Thursday, there are more vaccine appointments available at health services.

“All they have to do is call health services, 372-3320,” Ray said. “We will continue to have the vaccine available in the clinic free of charge. And if they can not come the times we are open, they can always go to the Putnam County Health Department, as well.”
