Obituaries For Tuesday, March 23
Clayta Estelle Spicciati, age 78 of Sparta, passed away Monday, March 22. A loving wife and Mother, Clayta was also a dedicated Nurse graduating from Baptist School of Nursing in 1963. Her nursing career spanned 50 years working in Milwaukee and later in Sparta. Clayta’s generous nature was shared with many dear friends through the years and neighbors in need could always depend on her to be available for them. Those left to cherish her memory are husband, Carlo Joseph (Chuck) Spicciati, daughter, Pamela Jo Spicciati of Sparta; and son Joseph Clay (Sandy) Spicciati of Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
Agnes Garrett, 93 of Livingston, passed away on Sunday, March 21 at Livingston Regional Hospital. Agnes was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was an avid gardener that loved all flowers. Agnes was loved by all that knew her and she will be greatly missed. Agnes is survived by, Daughter, Charlene, and John Skidmore. Agnes chose cremation, the family followed her wishes, and no memorial service is planned.
Anisia Perez, 83 , Cookeville, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021 in Cookeville. Anisia was born Thursday, December 30, 1937, La Habana Cuba to the late Santiago Perez and Angela Viera Perez. One Survivor Daughter Annia Gutierrez of Cookeville. Anisia is to be cremated and no services are planned at this time.
Funeral services for Sherri Allen, 61 of the Shiloh community of Jackson County, will be held on Wednesday, March 24 at 10 A.M. at the Cummins Mill Baptist Church on Cummins Mill Road. Burial will follow in the John Young Cemetery in the Shiloh community. Mrs. Allen passed away on Sunday, March 21 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born August 14, 1959, in Louisiana to Vergie Wells Daniels and the late Jesse Edgar Daniels. She was married to Ronnie J. Allen, who survives. She was retired from working in financial aid at TTU, and was a member of the Cummins Mill Baptist Church. Survivors include her Husband, Ronnie J. Allen of Cookeville; and Daughter, Janie Marie Hicks-Harris and husband, Ashly Harris, of Mendenhall, MS. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 9 A.M. until time of services.
Funeral Services for Mr. Doyle “Doy” Curtis Collins, age 70, of Alpine will be conducted 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Mr. Collins passed from this life on Sunday morning, March 21, 2021 from the TriStar Medical Center in Nashville. He was born in Overton County, Tennessee on January 21, 1950 to the late Dennis C. and Flora Lee Brown Collins. Doy enjoyed cattle farming and drinking coffee. Doy leaves behind his son, Tim Collins and wife Angela Nelson of Monterey, TN. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12 noon until time of services at Speck Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Michael Charles Birdwell, 70, of Baxter, TN, will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at 2 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the Sam Flatt Cemetery on Shepardsville Road. He passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Signature Health Care in Algood, TN. He was born August 3, 1950, in Detroit, MI, to the late Charles Birdwell and Elise Huddleston Birdwell. He was retired from General Motors, and enjoyed researching the genealogy of the Birdwell and Huddleston families. Survivors include 1 Son: Timothy Birdwell of Forrest City, Arkansas; and 1 Brother: Randy (Michelle) Birdwell of Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sam Flatt Cemetery by contacting the funeral home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until time of services.
Graveside services for Mr. Harlen Alva Robinson, age 81 of Sparta, will be conducted 3:00pm Wednesday, March 24 at Clouse Cemetery at Upper Board Valley. Buster Young will officiate. Mr. Robinson passed away Friday, March 19 in Jamestown. Harlen started his career in the workforce at an early age after graduating from high school at the age of 14. He was a Jack of All Trades, he could do anything pertaining to construction, carpentry work, roof work, masonry work, electrical and plumbing. He was an artist and loved painting. When he was not working, he could found on his motorcycle or horseback riding. Surviving family members include his two sons, Harlen Alva Robinson, Jr. of Sparta and David Robinson of Cookeville. There will be no public visitation prior to the service.

Funeral Services for Terry Lynn Maynard, 65 of Crossville and formerly of Jackson County, will be held Friday, March 26 at 12:00 pm from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastors Roland Smith and Billy Kemp officiating with full military honors. Interment will follow in the Smith Chapel Cemetery in Dodson Branch. Mr. Maynard passed from this life Monday, March 22 at Cumberland House. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Crossville. He graduated from Jackson County High School in 1973. He then joined the Army for three years where he traveled to Germany. He later joined the Navy serving 14 years, traveling as far as Antarctica. He began working as a Correctional Officer and after receiving his degree from MTSU, he worked as a counselor at the Bledsoe County Correctional Complex before retiring in 2015 where he spent 22 years. He loved his family and whenever he had the opportunity, he would play golf, take his boat out searching for Walleye, ride his Harley, and travel with Joni and Priscilla, their cat, in their RV. Terry is survived by his wife of 11 years, Joni; and three children, Theresa Maynard, Barbara “Jo” Johnson, and Matthew Johnson. Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, March 25 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again, Friday, March 26 from 10:00 am until time of service at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.

James Shenko will officiate. Mrs. Debbie passed from this life on Sunday evening, March 21 from her residence. She was born in Fort Dix, New Jersey on September 5, 1967 to the late Joseph Carlton-Normad and Elise Martha Anthony Ouellette. Debbie’s greatest joy was her husband and daughter and spending time with them on the beach. She also enjoyed reading and cooking. Debbie leaves behind her husband, Ronald F. Smith of Rickman; and daughter, Jessica Elise Smith of Mt. Holly, NJ. The family will welcome friends on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until time of services at Speck Funeral Home.
Memorial services for Shields Lynn Griggs, 76 of Cookeville, will be Monday, March 29 at 11 AM at Pleasant Grove Fellowship, 14150 Nashville Highway, Buffalo Valley. Mr. Griggs died Friday, March 19 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Shields attended Vanderbilt University. He was a retired sales representative with Neely Harwell Company in Nashville and later owned his own company, S & L Sales. After his retirement, he worked for Towne & Country Florist. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Fellowship. Shields was a musician and played in his own band, “Sounds of the South”. He later had a gospel singing group, “Redeemed” and sang and played at church, until his health began to fail. He taught Bible Study for many years, and he was an avid reader. He served on the Putnam County Fair Board for many years. He enjoyed the grandchildren and spending time with them and watching them in their sports activities. Survivors include his wife, Dr. Sharon Leftwich Griggs of Cookeville, daughters Amber Griggs and Dr. Tiffanie Wright; and son, Rick Griggs. Memorial donations to Pleasant Grove Fellowship, c/o Gail Myers, 1950 Leftwich Ridge Road, Baxter, TN 38544. The family will receive friends Monday after 9 AM until service time at the church.
Memorial services for Deborah Ann Scott, 64 of the Whites Bend community of Jackson County, will be held on Saturday, April 10 at 1 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Miss Scott passed away on Monday, March 22 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born May 15, 1956, in Jackson County. She was a factory worker at Crotty, and a member of the Assembly of God. Survivors include her daughter, Amy (Erik) Pryor Baxter of Mt. Juliet. The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 10 from 11 A.M. until time of services.
