PCSS Dual Enrollment Numbers Continue Uptrend

Dual enrollment numbers have been steadily increasing for the Putnam County School System.

Personalized Learning Supervisor Sam Brooks said the district has the highest population of TCAT dual enrollment students in the state.

“COVID has not really impacted numbers,” Brooks said. “We’ve stayed pretty steady, and on the career and technical side with our partnership with TCAT Livingston, it has actually continually grown.”

Brooks said dual enrollment offers many benefits, but the one that students care about the most is being prepared for college. Brooks said data from the school system suggests that dual enrollment students have a higher success rate and graduate faster.

The Virtual Instruction to Accentuate Learning program was first introduced to Upperman High School in 2012. Brooks said now, all high schools have multiple avenues of study available for students.
