McMinnville’s Park Theater is planning to bring back live performances this April.
Theater Manager Kevin Roberts said things kick off with, “A Tribute To Patsy Kline,” on April 24th.
“When you look at our calendar typically for a year we probably have 175 to 200 days booked a year,” Roberts said. “And when you go 365 without one you are ready to get back.”
Roberts said many of the upcoming performances are rental concerts from last spring. Roberts said these small scale concerts work well for 50 percent capacity.
“We feel like we can get those started,” Roberts said. “Get some shows back in here. Get a little more excitement growing. I am sure everybody is crazy to get out and get back to some sort of normal behavior.”
May 7th through the 9th Park Theater will be showing, “Dog Party Live On Stage.” Roberts said the local McMinnville performing arts group Dream Reality is putting on the children’s show.
“They are tremendously talented,” Roberts said. “And, they are going to have four performances of a brand new show that they created themselves. It is costume characters and a theme of a dog catcher chasing dogs and going through the process.”
COVID precautions are in place at the theater with masks being encouraged. Concessions are also going to be available, as well as seating in the balcony for those worried of exposure to COVID. Roberts said the theater staff are eager to welcome back the community.
“It’s tremendously exciting,” Roberts said. “If you can imagine two people who love to interact with people and to see all the regulars that we always have here all the time and to be isolated for a year. We are absolutely excited.”
Two other shows are scheduled with the last coming in June. Tickets are on sale now.
