Cookeville Submits Bid For TSSAA Blue Cross Bowl

The Cookeville-Putnam County Visitors’ Bureau has submitted its bid to host the TSSAA High School Football Championships.

Director Molly Brown said the 2020 Blue Cross Bowl was a success and looks forward to continue hosting.

“We’re rebidding for 2021 and 2022,” Brown said. “We just submitted that bid on Friday, and we will hear back on that March 16th. Our board of control will make that decision.”

The Bureau’s four year contract with TSSAA expired after this football season. Cookeville won 2016’s contract for $253,000. Tech’s Tucker stadium has held the championship games since 2009.

“I really want to thank everybody that is involved in that,” Brown said. “Obviously, that is a community wide effort, the chamber, the visitor’s bureau. Everybody, the city, the county, Tennessee Tech, EMA, everybody gets involved in that. We really couldn’t host that without everybody’s help.”
