Cookeville is asking residents to take a survey about what they want to see for a 10-year recreation master plan.
Leisure Services Director Rick Woods said the community is the best source for what the city is missing and can improve on. Woods said planning without reaching out is not the way to use city resources.
“It doesn’t do us any good just to go out and throw things out there and do things that nobody is interested in,” Woods said. “We need to know what kind of facilities people want. We need to know what kind of programs people want, we need to know what we’re missing and what is a real need in the community.”
Woods said residents will be able to elaborate on things they would like to see on the survey, beyond the standard questions. The survey will be open through March and has its own dedicated website.
“You can kind of keep up with the plan as we move forward,” Woods said. “As it progresses, it will be updated.”
Woods said the survey will ask residents what the community needs for recreation, beyond what the Leisure Services Department provides. Residents can take the survey on cookevilleparksplan.com
