Cane Creek Sportsplex Softball Registration Opens

Registration is open Monday for the return of the Cookeville Recreational and Church League Softball.

There is a 10 person minimum, 12 person maximum and teams must have at least three women to be a co-ed team. Cane Creek Sportsplex Athletic Coordinator Tyler Johnson said it’s exciting to play again after this past year.

“It just took away pretty much everything over here,” Johnson said. “We weren’t able to really have the Spring League last year. So, this year we’re trying to get it all started back up and get our teams going back in. We’re hoping to have a good season and translate that into a good season for the Fall, as well.”

However, Johnson said there were concerns about whether the pandemic would end up altering another season.

“We’ve had a few worries about whether we would be able to start on time due to COVID,” Johnson said. “But, I believe that right now we’re slowly getting away from all the madness COVID caused. I think people are excited to be able to come back over here and have Spring softball.”

It costs $400 to sign up, and online registration closes on February 26, standard registration is open until March 26.

The church league will start the season April 5, with games being played on Mondays. The recreation league will start its game on April 6, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Johnson said co-ed teams can register on the Cane Creek Sportsplex page on the Cookeville’s city website. Interested participants can also call (931) 520-5224 for more information on signing up.
