Pet Boarding Services Limiting Capacities As Precaution For More Outages

Some pet boarding centers are limiting clients due to concerns of losing power again.

Bethany Mack is the owner of Cookeville’s Just Poochy Pet Grooming and Daycare. Mack said she is mainly offering day services since the location does not have a back-up generator.

“We are very concerned with losing electricity,” Mack said. “We have had a couple of calls for people boarding. What we are doing is if people who are out of power and don’t have somewhere to keep their dog warm we are just taking them home with us if it is okay with them.”

Cookeville K9-n-Friends is also limiting capacity. Owner Shannon Keefe said animals are being housed in one room powered by generators. Keefe said power was restored to her location Wednesday, but this is a precaution for another outage.

Neither pet care locations are providing overnight boarding at this time. However, Cookeville’s Copyright Pet Resort is accepting overnight stays.

Mack said Just Poochy is also taking care of animals for owners staying in hotels from the winter storm. For any owners without power and at home, Mack said cuddling with your dog indoors should be enough to keep it warm.
