Obituaries For Friday, February 12

Online services for David Russell Ward, age 62 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday. Ward was born on March 24th, 1958 to Walter Russell Ward and Lillian Ophelia Ward, and passed away on January 30th, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Laurel Ward, step-children, Oswaldo Carcache, Jr. and Elizabeth Mountain (husband Jeremiah). David was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on March 2nd, 1975. He was a kind, faithful, unselfish, gentle person. It was rare for him to complain even through his illness. He loved to be outside either enjoying hiking, camping or even just being in the backyard. He knew almost any tree or flower he saw and if he didn’t recognize it, he would learn what it was.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Roaslie June Birdsall Mayer, age 81 of Allons will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, February 13 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. John Keith will officiate. Burial to follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Birdsall passed from this life from her daughters home in Millersburg, Indiana on Tuesday evening, February 9. Rosalie leaves behind her son, Phillip Mayer, Jr. and wife Joyce of Ft. Wayne IN; daughter, Dawn Wogomon and husband Kirk of Millersburg, IN. The family will welcome friends on Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.

Celebration Of Life Services For George Vincent Miller, Age 58 Of Cookeville, Will Be Conducted On Saturday, February 13 At 12:00 PM At The Monterey Community Church. Rev. Eddy Way Will Officiate. Mr. Miller Passed Away On Friday, February 5 At The Vanderbilt University Medical Center In Nashville. Vince Worked At Dacco In Cookeville. He Was A Carpenter, A United States Marine Veteran, And Attended Monterey Community Church. In Addition To His Father, He Is Survived By His Wife, Tarina Sitto Miller Of Cookeville; 3 Daughters, Deidre Miller Of Gainesboro, Hannah Miller Of Cookeville, Alexis Miller Of Cookeville, TN; and 1 Son, Zachary Miller Of Cookeville. The Family Will Receive Friends At Monterey Community Church On Saturday, February 13 From 11:00 AM Until Time Of Services At 12:00 PM.

Funeral Services For Rosemary Misner, Age 81 Of Monterey, Will Be Conducted On Saturday, February 13, At 1:00 PM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Floyd Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Sand Springs Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Misner Passed Away On Wednesday, February 10 At Her Home. Mrs. Misner Was A Homemaker. She And Her Husband, George Misner, Were Former Owners Of Town And County Overhead Doors, Inc. She Was A Member Of Full Gospel Assembly. She Is Survived By Her Husband Of 66 Years, George Misner Of Monterey; Daughter And Son-In-Law, Nicole And Allen Voiles Of Monterey. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Saturday, February 13, 2021, From 11:00 AM Until Time Of Services At 1:00 PM.

Funeral services for Ollie Elise Moles, age 96 of Cookeville, will be at 1 PM Saturday February 13 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Moles passed away Wednesday February 10 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until service time.

Funeral services for Rev. David Lee England, age 89 of Sparta, will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, February 14 at Sparta First Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery in the Cassville Community. Mr. England passed away at 2:15 am on Friday, February 12 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center from complications of Covid 19. He was saved at the age of 14, began preaching at the age of 16 and started his career as a pastor at 18, the same year he married his wife. He served countless Baptist churches in White County and Middle Tennessee for over 66 years. He reached many people in White County from his 62 years with his radio ministry, Sunday Morning Devotion. He conducted over 1,000 funerals and hundreds of weddings. In addition to his ministry, he was retired from the White County Board of Education, Bus Garage, where he served as a driver, trainer and mechanic. Survivors include his wife of 70 years Bessie Mae England of Sparta ; and three sons, Lester (Ramona) England, Manuel (Annette) England all of Sparta, and Michael (Donette) England of Stuart, FL. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4-8:00pm and Sunday after 1:00pm at the church. Kenneth Kirby and Rudy Oakes will officiate.

Funeral Services for Mary Crowder England, age 90 of Sparta, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 14 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Jeff Guth and Ken Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Mrs. England passed away on Thursday, February 11. Since Mary was thirteen years old, she cared for people with illnesses. She worked for many years at the White County Hospital and spent thirty years as a doctor’s assistant for Dr. Robert F. Baker Sr. She was married to the late Thurman R. England for 37 years. She is survived by two sons, John William (Renee) England of Sparta and Jerome Crowder (Linda) England of Jasper. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the White County Library, Robinson Chapel Presbyterian Church, or Sparta First Methodist Church Children’s Christmas Fund. The family will welcome friends on Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Robbie Sue Jones Netherton, age 69 of Gainesboro, will be conducted at 2 pm on Sunday, February 14 in the Chapel of Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Anderson and Bro. Matthew Scoggins officiating. Burial will follow in the Pharris Cemetery. Mrs. Netherton passed away on Wednesday, February 10 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She was a retired secretary for the Tennessee Board of Parole and Probation and also Citizens Bank in Gainesboro. She was a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ. On March 16, 1973 she was married to Jimmy Wayne Netherton. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Jimmy Netherton of Gainesboro; son, Michael (Vanessa) Netherton of Gainesboro; and daughter, Dana (Seth) Clinard of Whitleyville. Memorial donations can be made to the Jackson Smith County Youth Camp. Visitation will be on Saturday, Feb, 13, 2021 from 4 to 8 pm and Sunday from 12 noon until 2 pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Ruby Ann Roberts, age 94 of Cookeville, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday February 17 at McClellan Avenue Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Ruby transitioned to be with the Lord on Wednesday February 10.The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.

Memorial Service for Sally Nunley Burrows, 85 of Sparta, will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Jeff Guth officiating. She passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born Thursday, November 7, 1935 in Coalmont, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Matt and Nora Rogers Nunley. She was a caregiver for over 20 years. She loved being with people and spending time with her family. Survivors include son- Mike Burrows (Susan) of McMinnville, TN; Daughters- Sherry Rose (Donnie) of Sparta, TN and Jackie Burrows Miller of Sparta, TN. The family will welcome friends on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until time of the service at the funeral home.
