Obituaries For Tuesday, February 2

James “Jimmy” William Henley, 82 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, January 31 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Jimmy was a loving son, brother, father, and grandfather. He was a hard worker and was always doing something. Jimmy was loved by all that knew him and he will be greatly missed. Jimmy is survived by five Children, James R. Henley, Janet Rose Fields, Gary Henley, Jeff Henley, and Tommy Henley. Jimmy chose cremation, the family followed his wishes, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Funeral Services for William Nelson Lewis, 68 of Sparta, will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 3 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Matt McClain and Jason Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Eastland Cemetery. Mr. Lewis passed away on Monday, February 1 at his home. He was born Wednesday, April 2, 1952 in Crossville. He was the son of the late Homer and Dorothy Watley Lewis. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, camping, jeeping, farming, raising horses and cattle, but mostly, spending time with his family. He loved the Lord. Survivors include is wife, Virginia Briggs Lewis of Sparta; daughter, Kim Lewis Morgan (Matt) of Crossville; and son, Tim Swoape (Rob) of New York, NY. n lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Graveside services for Mr. Robert Charles York, age 66 of Doyle, formerly of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday, February 3 at Highland Cemetery. Mr. York passed away at 4:00am Tuesday, February 2 at Celina Health and Rehab in Celina. Robert was born January 5, 1955 in Sparta, Tennessee. He was a former employer of Pacesetters. He enjoyed riding through town and watching traffic from his vehicle. Survivors include his brother Jackie McBride and wife Geraldine of Doyle. There will be no visitation prior to the service.

Funeral services for Mr. Lance David Jackson, age 22 of Rickman, will be held Wednesday, February 3 at 2:00 pm at Netherland Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Netherland Cemetery. Bro. Mark Loftis will officiate. Lance passed away suddenly Saturday evening January 30 from injuries sustained from an automobile accident. He was born October 24, 1998 in Cookeville, TN to David and Ginnie Lee Jackson. Hard working throughout his life, Lance worked with UPS for over three years. Lance was fun, fearless, and a friend to many people. His life was full of meaningful relationships-with his family, classmates, coworkers, PIKE brothers and lifelong friends. He attended Rickman Elementary School and was a 2017 graduate of Livingston Academy. After graduating, he attended Tennessee Tech University and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. Lance also enjoyed spending time outdoors especially at the lake. He loved animals and listening to music. Lance was a member of Netherland Church of Christ. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Private funeral services for Paul Edward Chaffin, age 62 of Cookeville, will be on Thursday February 4 at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Richard Harris, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Mr. Chaffin passed away suddenly Tuesday morning February 2 at his home. He was born May 10, 1958 in Cookeville to his mother, Goldie Myers Jared Chaffin of Cookeville; and his father, the late William “Bill” Nathan Chaffin. Paul was a retired heavy equipment operator. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Judy (Richard) Harris of Knoxville.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Gladys Jean Cody, age 86, will be Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Bro. Mark Gaw will officiate. Mrs. Cody passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Her family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Funeral services for Pearl Flatt Dyer, 93, of Double Springs, will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Double Springs Church of Christ. Pearl was born February 8, 1927, to George Columbus Flatt and Mary Frances Billingsley Flatt in Jackson County, Tennessee. She married Howard Dyer, son of Carroll and Stella Birdwell Dyer, on November 20, 1948. She and Howard worked at Wilson Sporting Goods for 38 years before retiring together to enjoy and tend their farm and family in Double Springs. They gardened, harvested and canned produce for friends as well as preserving food for their family. Pearl Dyer followed the example of a virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. She was loved and respected by her family and friends, and will be missed by all. She is survived by her sister: Willa Dean Byers; two daughters: Judy (Russell) Agee and Michelle (Randall) Herron. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m till the time of the service.

Funeral services for Mr. Elbert Wayne Gilpatrick, age 69 of Livingston, will be held on Friday, February 5 at 1 PM at the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Officiating with the service will be Bro. Eric Dillon. Mr. Gilpatrick passed from this life on Monday evening, February 1 at his residence. Everyone knew him by Wayne; he was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Livingston. Wayne worked as a auto mechanic for years. Wayne loved his family and friends very much. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Lechya Gilpatrick; and daughter, Kayla Jenkins and her husband Anthony. The family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, Feb. 4th starting at 5 PM until 8 PM.

Memorial Service for Sally Nunley Burrows, 85 of Sparta, will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Jeff Guth officiating. She passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born Thursday, November 7, 1935 in Coalmont, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Matt and Nora Rogers Nunley. She was a caregiver for over 20 years. She loved being with people and spending time with her family. Survivors include son- Mike Burrows (Susan) of McMinnville, TN; Daughters- Sherry Rose (Donnie) of Sparta, TN and Jackie Burrows Miller of Sparta, TN. The family will welcome friends on Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until time of the service at the funeral home.
