Celina K-8 Offering Free Yearbooks To All 8th Graders

Celina K-8 is giving every 8th grader a free year book this year before they make the leap to high school.

Principal David Maxfield said with people struggling during the pandemic he felt it would be a nice thing to do for kids and families. Maxfield said he checked with the school’s bookkeeper and they decided it would be feasible to make this idea a reality.

“This is their final year, they’ve spent much of their educational time here at this school,” Maxfield said. “It’s a good momentum for them to have, to look back on and it’s really important for them to have something that they can take with them.”

Maxfield said this is the first time that Celina K-8 has offered this for its 8th grade students.

“I know everyone of them would like to have one,” Maxfield said. “I just thought it was a good thing and I looked to see if we could do it and fortunately we can, I looked through the book with our book keeper. She said yes, we should be able to do that. So, I just wanted to help them and their families out during this time.”

He said having his 8th graders leave is difficult for faculty.

“You get attached after you’ve had them for so long,” Maxfield said.

For other students, the yearbook order deadline has been extended to February 19, online orders will be open until February 27.
