Putnam Library Friends Adding New Members In 20th Year

The Putnam County Library Friends are looking for 30 new members to join in the groups 20-year anniversary.

Public Relations Board Member Tyler Asher said the membership drive is usually led by special events, but has been extended out to February 19. Asher said anyone who joins and pledges $15 or more will get a commemorative bookmark for this years anniversary.

However, he said a membership means more about giving back.

“The Friends, we’re a proud and dedicated supporter of the library’s Summer reading program, which hopefully will be coming up soon,” Asher said. “We’ve helped purchase mobile hot spots, telescopes and most recently, Google Chromebooks.”

Asher said membership also provides access to library events and early access to the library’s monthly book sale. He said the group is working to create a safe way to keep those going during the pandemic.

“We do Coffee With an Author, we’re still trying to figure out how to do Dinner With an Author,” Asher said. “Early access to the monthly book sale, which is still kind of that COVID deal. It’s kind of up in the air, we’re trying to figure out how to create a book sale. Maybe that is some type of drive-thru.”

He said anyone interested in becoming a friend of the Putnam County Library can visit the groups Facebook or pclibrary.org. There are seven different membership levels, based on how much money is pledged.
