Obituaries For Friday, January 15

Dr. Pete Helton, age 87 of Cookeville, died Thursday January 14 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Gill, age 83 of Monterey, will be Saturday, January 16 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of Horner Funeral Home. Barbara died Monday morning, January 11, 2021 in Cookeville Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am until service time at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Reba Joyce Flatt age 80 of Cookeville will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 12 Noon from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Stewart Cemetery located in Putnam Co., TN. Officiating the service will be Bro. Luke Wilken. Mrs. Reba Joyce Flatt was born on Sunday, September 22, 1940 to the late Earnest and Ocia (Rice) Burgess in Baxter, Putnam Co., TN. Reba was a member of the Bussell Church of Christ. She was loved by her family, and was very special to them. She loved meeting and talking to people, that is what made her a great Avon sales lady. She sure will be missed. Survivors include 1 Daughter: Phyllis Kilgore and her husband Matthew. Family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, January 15th starting at 5 PM until 8 PM.

Funeral Services For Myma Miller, Age 82, Of Monterey, Will Be Conducted On Saturday, January 16 At 1:00 PM From The Chapel Of Goff Funeral Home. Dr. Jerry Huffman Will Officiate With Interment To Follow In The Welch Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Miller Passed Away On Thursday, January 14, 2021, At Her Home. She Was A Homemaker And A Factory Worker. She Was A Member Of Hanging Limb Baptist Church. She Is Survived By Her Daughter, Beverly Phillips Of Monterey, TN; and Son, Dee Miller Of Monterey. The Family Will Receive Friends At Goff Funeral Home On Saturday, January 16, 2021, From 11:00 AM Until Time Of Services At 1:00 PM.

Visitation for Henry “Clay” Thomas, age 89 of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday January 16, 2021 from 3-5pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Mr. Thomas born September 6, 1931 and passed away January 12, 2021. He is survived by his two sons, Dean (Donna) and Durel (Trish) Thomas. Clay, as his friends knew him, served 4 years in the Army and then started his career in the car industry as a salesman, dealer, and owner until he was 86 years old. Driving was his passion. He would get up every day at 6:00 a.m. and go to the nursing home to visit family and friends and then meet others for breakfast at Hardee’s. He had some of the best gardens in town and was proud of his tomatoes and would share with everyone. Clay loved people and his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very loved by all and will be missed until we all meet again.

Funeral services for Mr. Victor Maddox, 55 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, January 17 at 12 Noon from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery in Putnam Co., Officiating with the service will be Bro. Erik Cremeans. Mr. Maddox passed from this life on Wednesday night, January 13 at his residence with his family by his side. Victor was a truck driver who worked hard for his family and loved them very much. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Kristina Maddox; and twin sons, Jonathan Maddox and his wife Leah, and James Maddox and his wife Whitney. Family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening, January 16th starting at 5 PM until 7 PM.

Funeral Service for Leslie “Leon” Jeans, Jr., 73 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, January 171 from the chapel of Caney Fork Baptist Church, 2404 East Highway 70, Cookeville at 3:00 PM with Bro. Steve Thornton officiating. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Leon was a people person, loved to act and entertain, and loved to sing, especially at church. He was a faithful member of Caney Fork Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He loved to laugh, and enjoyed most making others laugh. Leon was loved by all that knew him and he will be greatly missed. Leon is survived by, Wife of 53 years, Lynn Jeans. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Caney Fork Baptist Church Building Fund. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Caney Fork Baptist Church.

A funeral mass for Le Thi Suu, age 80 of Cookeville, will be at 11:00 am on Monday, January 18 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with burial to follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. She immigrated with her family in December 1975 to Cookeville where she resided for 40 years. A member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Suu was strong in her faith and lived her life being devoted to her husband and children. When her Parkinson’s disease progressed to the advance stage, she moved to Alexandria, Virginia in 2014 to be cared for by her daughters. She returned home to Cookeville for final resting place. Suu will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Sam Do, their eight children: Nguyet (Le), Anh, Hoang (Thuy Lien), Tuy, Hung, Ha, David (Erin) and Jennifer (Ken). Memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Suu Thi Le to National Parkinson’s Foundation (200 SE 1st St Ste 800, Miami, FL 33131), Holy Martyrs of Vietnam Church (915 S Wakefield St, Arlington, VA 22204), and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church (421 N Washington Ave, Cookeville, TN 38501). The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 17 from 5-8 pm at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home.
