This Week: Overton Considers CDBG Application, Pickett Schools Update Policies

This week the Overton County Commission meets in regular session Monday.

The consideration to apply for a Community Development Block Grant will be discussed. The $420,000 grant with a 13 percent county match would be used on new mini pumper trucks for the volunteer fire department. The application process began with an October public hearing.

The approval of a resolution recognizing the 50th anniversary of Livingston’s Vol State location will also be up for vote. Business begins at 5:00 p.m.

The Pickett County School Board will update its school policies Monday. Seventeen different changes could hear a first reading ranging from textbooks to employee leaves.

The board will also hear reports from school principals and Director of Schools Diane Elder. A work session begins at 5:30 p.m. with the meeting starting at 6:00 p.m.

Jamestown City Council will meet via teleconference Monday at 6:00 p.m. The council will consider updating its Drug Fund to purchase new body cameras for the police department.

Wednesday, the Upper Cumberland Development District will hold its annual Board of Directors meeting. An audit over the UCDD and the organization’s budget are to be discussed.

Immediately following, the Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency Board of Directors will also consider business. Its audit will also be reviewed, as well as an update of the Van Buren head start program. Both meetings will be held at the UCDD’s conference room.

Thursday, Crossville’s Planning Commission meets at noon via teleconference. Discussion over a water line extension for Ernest Neal Road is the only point of business. The price tag being just over $11,000.
