The Putnam County Schools will move forward with the hiring of a communications director.
The School board unanimously approved the move Thursday night. Director of Schools Corby King said the addition will allow the system to be more responsive to its families.
“Families will better know what’s going on in our district,” King said.
King said the position will not only help the system in dealing with emergencies or situations such as COVID to communicate through the media or social media. It will also allow the school to better tell the good stories happening in the school system.
School Board Member Jerry Maynard said the position was long overdue.
The position will be paid for with federal family engagement funds.
