State Temporarily Closes Cookeville Driver Services

Cookeville’s Driver Services Center has temporarily closed due to personnel shortages.

Wesley Moster is the State Department of Safety and Homeland Security Director of Communications. Moster said health concerns caused the closing. Offices are scheduled to reopen December 10th.

“Crossville, Lebanon or McMinnville Driver Services Centers are the closest locations customers can visit as an alternative location,” Moster said. “But at that same token, customers may visit or website at tn.gov/safety.”

You can complete most business such as license renewals online by logging into the e-services portal. Moster said people can also make appointments and reschedule online for any other state center.

“If they have a particular center they like to visit, they can go onto our website,” Moster said. “From there you can schedule an appointment, so they can show up 15 minutes ahead of time before their appointment and check in.”

The decision to temporarily close was made Monday. Moster declined to comment if the closure was due to COVID.
