Cumberland Co. Jail Restricting Visitations

The Cumberland County Jail will bring back visitor restrictions beginning Friday.

The jail first restricted visitations in May but removed them that summer. Sheriff Casey Cox said with rising COVID numbers, the rules should help keep the jail COVID-free.

“That is why we are really implementing this is because we have done well about being able to keeping it out,” Cox said. “Keep those numbers down, so we are going back to those same standards to continue to do that.”

Among the restrictions, prisoners may have two visitors at a time, and masks are mandated. Visitors must also go through a health questionnaire prior to entry. Cox said the restrictions are in place indefinitely.
