The Sparta-White County YMCA will close Monday for walking track and hallway renovations, with plans to reopen Halloween Day.
CEO Kyle Goff said the hallway tiles have been there since 1992 and renovating has been on his wish list for a while. Goff said the new-look track will be an aesthetic upgrade, while also keeping walkers safe.
“Around our walking track we’re going to have lines separating fast lane and slow lane, arrows pointing everyone in the right direction,” Goff said. “This will especially help during COVID season, so people aren’t crossing each other, through our walking track everyone will be pointed in the same direction and separated by a stripe in the floor.”
Goff said the only program still available during the closure is group fitness class. However, Goff said there is good news for people who need to use the YMCA’s services.
“The Putnam County YMCA has offered to open their doors to our members,” Goff said. “If you are a member here at the YMCA in Sparta, you do have reciprocity to travel to the Putnam County YMCA next week.”
Goff said there will be emergency child care available at the East Sparta Church of God. Members can visit the Sparta-White County YMCA website to find details on group fitness class times.
