Cookeville Public Works will start picking up leaves in the first week of November.
This service will run for city residents on Monday through Friday. Public Works Director Greg Brown said for residents to be mindful of where they place their leaves if they want them to be collected.
“It would help if they would not put the leaves in a ditch, sometimes that’s not always possible but when you put them in the ditch and you get a heavy rain, of course you stop up the ditch and washes the leaves away,” Brown said. “Of course you don’t want to put them in the road and block traffic, as well.”
Brown said for residents to not mix anything in with the leaves, including limbs and other yard debris.
Brown said when more leaves start falling the service will run Monday through Saturday towards the end of November.
