COVID Cases At CRMC Up To 52

The number of positive COVID cases being treated at Cookeville Regional Medical Center surged to 52 Wednesday.

CRMC Public Relations Director Melahn Finley said nine other patients are awaiting positive tests. The State Department of Health reported 66 new cases in Putnam County Wednesday, the fourth highest among counties in the state. The positivity rates among new residents tested stands at 12 percent.

“With numbers continuing to go up in the community, we want to strongly emphasize the importance of social distancing and masking when you are around others outside of your household,” Finley said. “If you are sick, please stay home unless you are seeking medical care and don’t be around others. Also, frequent handwashing or the use of hand sanitizer is important to prevent the spread as well as frequent cleaning and disinfecting of commonly used items.”

Two people have died at Cookeville Regional in the past 48 hours, a resident from Fentress County and a Putnam County resident.

Clay County reported 18 new cases Wednesday, according to State Department Of Health with a 33 percent positivity rate. Fentress and Warren Counties each reported 25 new cases.
