Obituaries For Tuesday, October 6

Daniel “Dan” Paul Kelleher, 84 of Baxter, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Dan chose cremation, the family followed his wishes, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Wilma Hamilton Randolph, age 90 of Baxter, died Tuesday October 6th at her home. Arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Graveside services for Linda Jo Dishmon-Hall, age 66 of Livingston, will be conducted at 11am on Wednesday October 7 at Springs Chapel Cemetery in Fentress County with Brother Seth Price officiating. She was born in Fentress County, TN on January 4, 1954. She was the daughter of the late Onie Eugene Dishmon and the late Wilda Mae Cobb-Dishmon. After spending her early years in the Sharp Place community, she met and married the love of her life, Dallas Dale Hall. Linda Jo and Dale moved to Sparta, TN where they settled and raised their family. After having their two daughters, Lacey and Allison, Linda Jo became a homemaker and found joy in caring for her family. She and Dale loved to travel together leaving many great memories of camping, beach time, and roadtrips with friends and family. As a creative and talented seamstress and artist, she took pleasure in her crafty creations. However, her true gift and talent was caring for others. She gave selflessly in order to care for and show her love to her family. This is evident by the special bond she had with her children, nieces, and grandchildren. After many years of struggling with health issues, Linda Jo took her last breath of life in this world on October 4, 2020 and entered a new world with no pain and suffering. The family will receive friends at Oaklawn Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 6 from 4-8pm.

Graveside services with military honors for Mr. Bobbie Lee “Bob” Roberts, age 89 of Doyle, will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Sparkmantown Cemetery. Wayne Sullivan will officiate. Mr. Roberts passed away at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. Bob was a well known mechanic; alongside his late brother Buford, he owned and operated Walling Service Center starting in 1960. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his time in Korea. Upon his return home from service, he met his future wife of nearly 66 years, Betty, at the bus station in Rock Island. When he was not working at his shop, he was home working in his garden or casting a line as he was an avid fisherman. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty Roberts of Doyle; and two sons, Steve Roberts and Stewart Roberts both of Doyle. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00am until departure for the cemetery at 12:30. The family asks that all visitors to the funeral home please wear a mask.

Graveside Services for Mr. Stanley Ruffin Carter, Sr., age 91 of Livingston, will be held 10 am Thursday, October 8th from Richardson Cemetery with military honors provided at graveside by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard in honor of his dedication and service. Bro. John Mabrey will officiate the service. Mr. Stanley R. Carter, age 90 of the Taylor’s Crossroads Community of Monroe passed away on October 3rd in the Overton County Health and Rehab Center. Mr. Carter was born on November 16, 1929, in Overton County. Mr. Carter was a very caring father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed his life raising a total of 6 children. Mr. Carter was best known for making a career in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany, Vietnam, and Korea. Stanley retired from the U.S. Army in 1975. After his retirement he spent several years running the store at Taylor’s Crossroads for J.D. Coleman. In addition to running the store he farmed until sometime around 2010. Stanley also dedicated a great amount of time to the Honor Guard and helped in the funeral services for hundreds of U.S. veterans. Mr. Carter and his wife of 67 years, Geneva, would spend many hours during the summer and fall months canning fruits and vegetables as well as drying apples in preparation for the winter months. Some of Mr. Carter’s greatest joys in his later years were walking through the woods on his farm and singing obscure songs from his childhood to his grandchildren. The family will welcome friends at the graveside.

Funeral services for Jewel B. Clark, 88, of Granville and Baxter, will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, October 8, 2020, at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Granville Cemetery in Granville. She passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020, in Smyrna. She was a housewife, and a member of the Baxter Church of Christ. Survivors include 1 Son, Robbie (Bridgett) Taylor Clark of Lascassas; and 1 Daughter, Sandra (Bill) King of Smyrna. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11 A.M. until time of services.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Willo Dean Hagins, age 71 of Rickman, will be held 12 noon Thursday, October 8th, from Life Church in Cookeville where she will lie in repose from 11 am until the time of services. Bro. Richard Hazelbaker will officiate. Mrs. Hagins passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday morning, October 6, 2020. She was surrounded by her children and husband of 29 years. She was the youngest of eight children of Jeff and Myrtle (Gore) Hammock. Dean was a member of The Life Church in Cookeville. She loved to spend time with family and travelling. Willo Dean leaves behind her husband William Hagins of Rickman, her daughter Tammy Cook and husband John of Allardt, sons James Cooper and wife Socorro of Cookeville, and Richard Cooper of Rickman. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 pm from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston.

Funeral Services for James Michael Fox, 67 of Cookeville, will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Rodney Ritchie officiating. Mr. Fox passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Wednesday, February 25, 1953 in Sparta, Tennessee, he was the son of the late J.C. Nash and Evelyn Prater. James loved Batman and made a hobby of collecting memorabilia. He liked riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle as well. He also worked over 37 years at Flowserve in Cookeville. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Fox Of Cookeville; daughter, Chrissy White (Mark) of Sparta; and son, James Fox of Sparta. The family will welcome friends on Thursday from 11:00 am until time of the service at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs Elaine Funk, age 96 of Cookeville will be held Friday October 9 at 1 pm in the chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with interment to follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Funk died Sunday October 4, 2020 at 1:12 am in NHC of Cookeville. Mrs. Funk’s family will receive friends Friday from 11 am until service time at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19 precautions, social distancing measurers will be in place and the use of masks are required.

Graveside services for Shelah A. Cole, age 86 of Frankfort, Illinois, formerly of Sparta, will be held 10:00 am Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Corinth Cemetery in Cassville, Tennessee with Military Honors. All are welcome to come and celebrate the life of a great man who touched many lives. The service will be officiated by his nephew, Ronnie Taylor. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Omega J. (Riley) Cole; their daughter, Sabrina Affeldt (Mark) and sons, Craig Cole and John Cole (Casmira). Shelah was born on December 14, 1933 in Putnam County, Tennessee to Benjamin Harrison and Winnie (Usrey) Cole. Shelah was a dedicated Christian, member of the Heritage Baptist Church in Frankfort, Illinois and a proud United States Army Veteran, he served overseas for eighteen months. Visitation Wednesday 9:00am-1:00pm at Maher Funeral Home 17101 S. 71st Ave Tinley Park Illinois.

Memorial services for John William Bennis, 74 of Sparta, will be held Sunday, October 18 at 3pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. He passed from this life on Friday, October 2, 2020, at home in Sparta. John enjoyed tinkering with cars, he was the owner of John’s Garage and Wrecker Service in Bloomington Springs. He liked to “glamcamp” (glamorous camping) with all the amenities of home, but at the lake. Jet skiing was also an event he liked doing while at the lake. He was an avid Amazon shopper. John loved his family, especially his grandson, who called him PopPop. Surviving are daughter, Jennifer Bennis of Cookeville and son Jonathan Bennis of Cookeville. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 18, 2020 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
