A murder investigation is underway, after a Cumberland County man was found dead in his home from an apparent gunshot wound Thursday night.
Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Neverfail Road at 7:45 PM on a welfare check. A check was requested after contact was unable to be made with 30 year-old, Austin Lewis.
When deputies arrived on scene the front door was standing open, and Lewis was found dead. Investigators with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, TBI and the 13th Judicial District Attorney General’s Office worked the scene and are continuing to investigate the case.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said Friday it is early into the investigation and little information can be released at this time. The victim is being sent to the State of Tennessee’s Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville for the autopsy.
