Cookeville’s 2020 Made Here Market Cancelled

The second annual Made Here Market has been cancelled this year due to COVID-19.

Biz Foundry’s Director of Engagement and Outreach Tiffany Anton said they postponed from Spring until September 19th but decided that date was not going to work. However, plans are in the works to find a way to give exposure to makers in the Upper Cumberland before the 2020 holiday season.

“It’s definitely going to hurt them a little bit, but like I said we’re trying to do other options in order to showcase them and have people order directly from them and still know those products exist,” Anton said.

Local artists, clothing, jewelry and food from across the Upper Cumberland would have been on display this year. How they get their exposure is still being considered for October.

“Whether it’s video content or doing some shout outs on social media for them, but as they ramp up for their holiday season we want to make sure that we are able to spotlight them and showcase what they can make,” Anton said.

In the midst of the pandemic, Anton said they do not want to lose sight of how important Upper Cumberland’s makers are to the community.

“Just because you’re hand sewing clothes in Spencer, Tennessee does not make it any worse or better than somebody who is hand sewing clothes in New York City,” Anton said.

The new date for the Made Here Market is currently set for May 2021.
