Obituaries For Thursday, August 27

Arland F. (Buddy) Kidd 83 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family Tuesday Aug.25 2020. Bud was the owner and operater at Cookeville Transmission from it’s opening on March 13 1969 until his retirement on Jan. 1 1999. He loved to be on Center Hill lake fishing, hunting and enjoying life. Upon retirement, Bud moved to Kissimmee Fl. and continued to enjoying fishing on Lake ToHo. Bud lived life to the fullest. He was truly the “Jack of all trades”. From repairing vehicles to building his own houseboat. If he set his mind to do something, he would make it work. He loved playing his guitar and singing slightly off key as loud as he could. His most amazing talent was to make people laugh. He is survived by his “boys” Randy (Sharon) Kidd, Rick (Teresa) Kidd, Kenneth (Little Bud) Katherine Kidd all of Sparta and Roger Kidd of Nashvillle along with his life partner Carol Boyce of Sparta. Funeral services for Mr. Keith Weitzel, age 72 of Cookeville, will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 11 AM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Zion Hill Cemetery in the Rickman Community of Overton Co.. Family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, August 27, 2020 starting at 4 PM until 7 PM.

Funeral services for Wilma Kaye Atkinson, age 65 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m Friday August 28 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddletson and Horner Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. until service time.  Kaye passed away Tuesday August 25, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Geraldine Brooks Ballew McCormick, age 82 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Friday, August 28, 2020 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Perry Clayton and Doug Goff will officiate. He passed away 2:43 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at St. Thomas Highlands Hospital. Geraldine was born April 9, 1938 in Charlottesville, Virginia. She retired from Mallory Timers. She, along side her husband, enjoyed going to Cruise In’s and visiting with people about their vintage cars. They traveled to car shows and Cruise In’s all over the eastern United States. James Arzie Miller, Phillip “P.Q.” Qualls, Joe Ed Moore, Stacy Daniels, Dale Bilbrey and Derrick Bilbrey will serve the family as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Veachel Mae Barlow Bennett, age 95, of Hilham will be conducted 2 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2020 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Sonny Gilpatrick will officiate. Burial to follow in the Aarons Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Veachel Bennett passed from this life from the comfort of her home on Tuesday morning, August 25, 2020. She was born in Jackson County on October 15, 1924 to the late Alfus & Deller Geesling Barlow. She was a member of the Aarons Chapel Community Church. Veachel enjoyed making quilts, inspirational cards, and gardening. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for her family that she loved dearly. Veachel also enjoyed reading her Bible and going to church. The family will welcome friends on Thursday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home.

Funeral services for ZL Nelson, age 86 of Cookeville, will be at 10 a.m Saturday, August 29 at Dyer Funeral Home. Bro. Dow Allen will officiate. Interment will follow at J. J. White Cemetery in Putnam County. Mr. Nelson passed away Wednesday morning August 26, 2020 at his home. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 – 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time. Due to COVID precautions social distancing measures will be observed. Guests are encouraged to where masks.

A Memorial Service for Maggie Ann Bryant Vincent, age 84 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Cookeville First Church of God, 1223 Fisk Rd, Cookeville, TN 38501 with Bro. Cameron Wilson officiating. Mrs. Vincent passed away Monday, August 24, 2020 in Cookeville. She was born on November 4, 1936 in Shelbyville, TN to the late Jim and Levy Mae Bryant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Don Vincent and Son- Chris Vincent. Maggie was a member of 1st Cookeville Church of God, retired from pacesetters after 25-year career. Maggie is survived by, Son, Scott Vincent (Amy) of Sparta.

Funeral services for Mr. James E. Bailey, 91, of Gainesboro, will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at 11 A.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services. He was born July 12, 1929, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Rad Bailey and Ethel Mosley Bailey. He was married to the late Lora Bailey, who passed away May 16, 2017. He was an electrician, and a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Survivors include 1 Son: Ronnie (Sandy) Bailey of Baxter, TN; 2 Daughters: Anita Bailey of Calhoun, TN, and Carolyn Bailey of Lebanon, TN.

Funeral services for Penny Maxwell, 53, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. The Tennessee Nurses Honor Guard will provide honors. She passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, in Jackson County. Survivors include her two sons, Talyn (Kaitlyn) Bilbrey and Tandyn Dalton Bilbrey, both of Baxter; and one daughter, Tasey Marie (Ulises Lenoris) Hall of Cookeville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services.

Frank passed away Monday August 24, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

A Celebration Of Life for William “Bill” James Sevier, Age 71 of Cumberland Cove Community, On Saturday August 29, 2020 At The Home Of Bill And Linda In Cumberland Cove From 5 PM To 7 PM. he passed On To Heavenly Glory On Monday August 3, 2020. Mr. Sevier, Was Born On January 19, 1949 In Salisbury, Maryland, To The Late George Franklin And Gwendolyn Jackson Sevier. Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, And Friend Is Survived By: His Wife Linda Of 49 Years. Sons Brian (Dani), Kevin (Nikki), Greg (Rachelle). Bill’s Loves Were Hunting, Fishing, Civil War history, Deer And Bird Watching, And Chatting With His Buddy Bobby. Bill And Linda Served As Missionaries In Jamaica Which Was A Springboard To Serving The Lord For His Entire Life. He Led Numerous Bible Studies, Men’s Groups, Leader Of Men’s Ministries And Was An Ordained Minister. He Dedicated His Professional Life To The Education Of Children In Salisbury, Maryland And Broward County, FL For Over 35 Years.

Funeral services for David Timothy Barefield, 65 of Cookeville, will be Sunday, August 23 at 2 PM at the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery.  Mr. Barefield died Friday August 21, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a loving husband, Christian, godly man who loved his Lord and a true patriot. He enjoyed playing softball, playing and listening to music and relaxing in the Smokies. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Survivors in addition to his parents include wife Sabrina Newman Barefield of Cookeville, son and daughter-in-law JoDonn and Sarah Jared of Cookeville. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 to 8 PM and after 12 Noon Sunday at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mr. Delton Richardson, age 97 of Cookeville, will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 1 PM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Richardson Cemetery located in Monroe, Overton Co. Mr. Richardson was a member of the Duncan’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and loved his family and church family very much. He helped build the Dale Hollow Damn in Celina, then he went to Ohio and worked as a Crane Operator for a company by the name of McNeal Akron Company in Akron, Ohio. All who knew him will miss Mr. Delton Richardson. He is survived by his wife, Renate Hurst Richardson whom he married March 3, 1992; 1 Son, Rockford Richardson and his wife Karen. A host of family and friends and grandchildren also survive. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, August 31, 2020 starting at 5 PM until 9 PM. Officiating the service will be Bro. Wayne Sullivan and Bro. Tommy Phillips.
