Laptop and Computer Supplies Running Low

With virtual learning and working from home becoming the norm, the need for a laptop or computer grows. The only problem is supplies are running low.

Laptop Dudes Owner Dave Dickerson said computers are in high demand, but especially inexpensive options. Almost every major retailer is sold out of affordable laptops.

“School systems have ordered from big Chromebook manufactures in the millions, and they can not get the supplied,” Dickerson said. “So, look at your Walmart here where normally it would be easy to get a $150 Chromebook, they are just not available.”

Dickerson said prices for high end laptops have increased making low-priced options more popular. Dickerson said he recommends not buying the cheapest options still available in stores. Instead, visit your locally owned computer store for refurbished options.

“Do not buy the cheapest thing that they have a big box store retailer like Walmart,” Dickerson said. “You are not going to be happy with what they have under $200. It is probably not going to last you very long or meet your needs for school or work.”

Laptop Dudes gives six month warranties for any refurbished piece of technology purchased. Dickerson said his store still can get a good supply of refurbished Windows laptops for about $200.
