Overton Services Building Behind Schedule

Several positive COVID tests will delay the opening of the new Overton County Services Building.

County Executive Ben Danner said he had expected move-in to be about now.

“You know the COVID has kinda put it behind probably a month,” Danner said. “We had some crews that tested positive and had to be out of work for a little while, and a lot of the materials we ordered had to come in from somewhere else. [They] were back ordered because of the COVID.”

Danner said rainy conditions also led to the move in postponement. The project is now four weeks behind schedule.

The County Executive and Veteran’s offices are scheduled to move in first. Other departments moving in are the County Clerk, Register of Deeds, County Assessor, Trustee, and Archives offices.

Construction for the $2 million project began April 2019.
