The concrete pouring for Gainesboro Park’s playground began this week.
Mayor Lloyd Williams said the playground equipment is in and should be installed by the end of the month.
“It is very exciting for the city of Gainesboro,” Williams said. “I have two young kids, and we are right by there. They are awfully excited right now and can not wait to see it.”
Williams said the overall project including the park’s pavilion is expected to be completed in about two months. Next year, the city plans to add an exercise room with equipment to the park.
“We have a parks and recreational committee that has done a great job,” Williams said. “Jordan Hunter is the chair person. We also had Mayor Heady’s support. They have done a great job.”
The pavilion bid with Recreational Concepts is $60,000 and the concrete work with Turney’s Concrete Solution under $15,000. The playground and pavilion are paid by the second round of funds from the Project Diabetes Grant. The grant renew every July for three years.
