Incumbent Ryan Williams beat out Dennis Bynum for the 42nd District Republican seat.
Williams received 69 percent of the votes. Williams said he is ready to continue serving Putnam County in Nashville
“It is one thing for us to put our names on a ballot. It is another thing for people to say you are the person I want to serve me and my family and represent who I am as a individual,” Williams said. “That is a great burden to bear, but one I take very seriously.”
Williams said the support from Putnam County was overwhelming, especially with the number of absentee ballots. Williams said he is already in the process of communicating with Putnam officials to help make change.
“I have already been in consultation with Mayor Shelton and Sheriff Farris about some issues regarding some things that we want to fix here locally that is going to take some state involvement, so we are excited to continue discussions with them.”
