Obituaries For Thursday, August 6

Betty Ann (Turley) England, 73, of Sparta, passed away peacefully August 6, 2020 at her home. The family has chosen cremation. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Larry Cass, 68 of Cookeville passed from this life on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. Larry chose cremation and his family followed his wishes.

Mrs. Sue McCormick Poindexter, age 84 of Livingston passed from this life on Wednesday morning, August 5th, from Cookeville Regional Medical Center. There are currently no services planned.

Funeral services for Mr. James Dixon, age 81 of Livingston, will be held on Friday, August 7 at 10 AM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Carter Bilbrey Cemetery in the Highland Community of Overton Co. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, Aug. 5th starting at 5 PM to 9 PM, Thursday, August 6th starting at 9 AM to 9 PM. Officiating at the service will be Bro. Jerry Harris and Bro. J.B. Harris. Mr. Dixon passed away on the morning of Monday, August 2 at the St. Thomas West Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Dixon; 6 Sons: Harold Dixon and wife Sherri Stewart, Harlen Dixon and wife Grace, Jerry Dixon and wife Susie, Christopher Meness and wife Jennaleigh, Joshua Stover, and Brandon Stover and 1 Daughter, Lesa Meness and Fiancé Jimmy Smith.

Graveside services for Hazel J. Derossitt, age 73 of Cookeville, will be held Friday, August 7 beginning at 2:00 pm at Browns Mill Cemetery in Cookeville; she passed away Monday, August 3 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Hazel was a loving wife of 53 years to ” Sweet Baby James”, and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a caretaker to many, and over the years an adoptive mother to childhood friends of Matt and Jill. For 35 years she managed the Tennessee Outlaw Band and ran Hazels Popcorn Palace and Hot Dog Hut. She was a part-time seamstress at Broadway Upholstery, and she was an inspiration to all with her selfless acts of Kindness and her loving heart.

Graveside services for Garry E. Derossitt, age 74 of Cookeville with full military honors by the Veterans Honor Guard for Garry will be held Friday, August 7 beginning at 3:00pm at Browns Mill Cemetery in Cookeville; he passed from this life on Monday, August 3. Garry was a loving husband, father, and friend to all who knew him. He was owner/operator of Garry’s Upholstery in Cookeville. He served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam Era. He loved playing country music and played with the Tennessee Outlaw Band for 36 years. Garry is survived by his wife of 29 years, Diane Derossitt of Cookeville.

Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Lisa L. Rodriguez, age 56 of Rickman, will be conducted 12 noon, Saturday, August 8th, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home. Rev. James Shenko will officiate. The family will welcome friends on Saturday from 10 am until time of services at 12 noon. Mrs. Rodriguez passed from this life on Thursday morning, July 30, 2020, from Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, on June 16, 1964, to the late Mikel and Janis Ruth Porter Wireman. Lisa always enjoyed talking to her friends, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to garden and be around her animals. Mrs. Rodriguez is survived by her sons Greg Wireman and wife Alex of Hendersonville and David Wireman and wife Sheila of Cookeville.

Celebration of Life services for Mr. Prentice Dwight Stewart, age 73 of the Sulfur Community, will be conducted 1 PM Saturday, August 8, 2020, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Cameron Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Eckels Cemetery with military honors provided at graveside by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will welcome friends from 12 noon until time of services at 1 PM. Mr. Stewart passed from the comfort of his home on Wednesday, March 25, 2020. He was born in Overton County, Tennessee on January 19, 1947 to the late William T. “Buster” & Myrtle Grace Carr Stewart. Dwight was a member of the Church of Christ and a 1965 graduate of Rickman High School.

Mr. Sevier, Was Born On January 19, 1949 In Salisbury, Maryland, To The Late George Franklin And Gwendolyn Jackson Sevier. Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, And Friend Is Survived By: His Wife Linda Of 49 Years. Sons Brian (Dani), Kevin (Nikki), Greg (Rachelle). Bill’s Loves Were Hunting, Fishing, Civil War history, Deer And Bird Watching, And Chatting With His Buddy Bobby. Bill And Linda Served As Missionaries In Jamaica Which Was A Springboard To Serving The Lord For His Entire Life. He Led Numerous Bible Studies, Men’s Groups, Leader Of Men’s Ministries And Was An Ordained Minister. He Dedicated His Professional Life To The Education Of Children In Salisbury, Maryland And Broward County, FL For Over 35 Years.
