Obituaries For Thursday, July 30

Gary Franklin Aldridge, 63 of Sparta, passed away on Wednesday, July 29 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family has chosen cremation. There are no services scheduled at this time.

Funeral services for Flora Juanita Young, 93 of Baxter, will be Friday, July 31 at 1 PM at New Home Baptist Church with Bro. Charlie Wills officiating. Mrs. Young died Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at her home. She was born September 14, 1926 in Baxter, Putnam County, Tennessee to the late William Arthur and Nora Avo Sliger Austin. She was a graduate of Baxter Seminary. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse at Cookeville General Hospital on the OB Wing (now Cookeville Regional) for over forty years. Survivors include a daughter Rema Faye Billingsley, son Tommy Young both of Baxter as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren and her sister. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until service time. Due to COVID-19 social distance measures will be in place and her family kindly suggests that all guests wear facial coverings.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cynthia Dianne Myers Arthur, age 63 of Smyrna, formerly of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Saturday, August 1 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Myers Arthur passed away Wednesday morning, July 29 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She enjoyed home design, especially at Christmas when she would decorate several trees throughout her house. She loved to go to craft stores, yard sales and flea markets to find things to use in her decor. Surviving family members left to cherish her memory include her husband of 20 years, Wesley Arthur of Smyrna; two sons and their spouses: Steven and Wendy Cantrell of Sopchoppy, Florida, Bryan and Erica Cantrell of Crossville. The family will receive friends Friday from 4-8:00pm and Saturday from 11:00am until service time at Hunter Funeral Home. Terry Campbell will officiate.

Funeral services for Robin Diane Diets, 58 of Cookeville, will be Saturday, August 1 at 1 PM at the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Boiling Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday after 11 AM until service time.

A Celebration of Life for Gerald Robert Fabyunkey, 67 of Doyle, will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Mr. Fabyunkey’s Residence: 283 Mountain Street Doyle, TN 38559. He passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at his home. He was born Sunday, November 23, 1952 in San Diego, California , he was the son of the late Vernon and Ann Vergoglino Fabyunkey. He was a Vietnam Veteran who was honorable dishcharged from the United States Army. Survivors include Wife- Sue Fabyunkey and Son- Dunu Fabyunkey.

Memorial Services for Dean Edward Mayberry, 77 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, August 1st at 1:00 pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. There will be graveside service at a later date. Mr. Mayberry passed from this life on Monday, July 27 at home in Cookeville surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy Mayberry; his daughter, Menica Turner and his son, Stephen Mayberry. Dean and Judy owned Dean’s Best Way in Cookeville for many years. Then he ventured into real estate and remained until his stroke in 2014. He enjoyed selling farms in the real estate business, the flower garden and worshiping at the Smyrna Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon until his failing health. Most of all he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 am to time of Memorial Service, they request all visitors please wear a mask.

Funeral Services for Walter B Holman Jr., 77, of Sparta, will be held Saturday, August 1 at 4 p.m. at West Sparta Church of Christ located at 100 Hampton Drive Sparta, TN 38583 with Derrick Coble officiating, burial will follow at Holman Family Farm. Mr. Holman passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at his home. He loved his farm on Bon Air Mt. that he kept in perfect shape. He loved and enjoyed time spent with his kids and grandkids and loved his wife dearly. A family “get together” made his day. Joy was found through tractor rides, bon fires, wienie roasts, woodworking and most of all beautiful sunsets. Surviving family include; Wife- Anna Lou Holman of Sparta, Daughters- Kimberly Ann McDonald (Steve) of Sparta and Mary Beth Whitson (Kayd) of Sparta; Sons- Matthew Holman (Robynn) of Sparta and Charles Bransford Holman “Brant” (Lauren) of Cookeville as well as 10 grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at West Sparta Church of Christ from 1 p.m. until time of service at 4 p.m.

Funeral services for Judith “Judy” Ann Augustson, 80 of Cookeville, will be Saturday, August 1 at 7 PM at the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Bro. Larry Pedigo will officiate. Mrs. Augustson died Saturday, July 24, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Judy was a retired Electronic Technician with Laser Alignment, INC. in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed cross stitch, stained glass, working in her flowers and garden and her cat, Miss T. She taught line dancing at the Algood Senior Citizens. Survivors include son, Erik Augustson of Algood; daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa (Mike) Thurlow of Cookeville and Kristen (Rick) Kelly of Granville, Michigan. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 PM until service time. Due COVID-19 social distancing will be observed. Memorial contributions may be made to Feed America First, 1715 S. Graveside Funeral Services For Kathryn Vaughn, Age 78, Of Monterey, Will Be Conducted On Saturday, August 1 At 6:00 PM At The Welch Memorial Cemetery In Monterey. Rev. Eugene McCowan And Rev. Delmer McCowan Will Officiate. Mrs. Vaughn Passed Away On Thursday, July 30 At Her Home. Mrs. Vaughn Was The Owner And Operator Of Kathryn’s Beauty Shop In Monterey For Over 50 Years. She Had Many Long Time Customers Who Were More Than Just Customers, They Were Beloved Friends. She Is Survived By Her Daughter, Felecia Yates Of Monterey; Son And Daughter-In-Law, Brian And Bobbie Jo Vaughn Of Monterey along with grandchildren, neices and nephews. The Family Will Receive Friends At Welch Memorial Cemetery.
