Honor Guard Performs Ceremony In Pickett

The Overton County Veterans Honor Guard performed a flag retirement ceremony Friday at the Pickett County Care and Rehab Center.

The center requested the ceremony on behalf of several residents of the facility.

The guard holds ceremonies to honor flags that are ripped, torn, stained, or faded. Such condition means the flags can no longer be flown. The group holds a flag retirement ceremony to burn these flags. The ceremony is in compliance with the United States flag code.
