Hallie S. Newby Martin, age 98, of Sparta, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Life Care Center of Sparta. There will be a private graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Warren County.
Fred F. Antes, 64 of Monterey, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, Tennessee. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Mr. Tom Haynes, age 66 of Cookeville, died Tuesday, June 30th at his residence. Arrangements for Mr. Haynes are incomplete.
Mrs. Kay Frances Sherrill, age 80 of Livingston. passed from this life on Tuesday morning, June 30, 2020. She was born in Overton County on December 12, 1939, to the late Fred and Katie Garrett Smith. She was a 1957 graduate of Livingston Academy. Private services will be conducted at a later date.
Funeral Services for Wilma Clodene Jones, 89 of Algood, will be held on Friday, July 3 beginning at 10:00am. Wilma passed from this life Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Bethesda Health Care Center in Cookeville. Wilma enjoyed time with her family, quilting and gardening. The family will receive friends at Crest Lawn Funeral Home Friday, July 3, 2020, from 10:00, am until 12:00 pm. Graveside services will follow in Smyrna Cemetery in Byrdstown beginning at 1:30 pm, Interment will follow in Smyrna Cemetery.
Graveside service for William Lamont “Bill” Penn, age 69 of Cookeville with full military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard, will be held Friday, July 3, 2020 beginning at 12:00 PM at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Bro. Steve Tiebout officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. he passed from this life Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Wednesday, October 25, 1950 in Milan, Indiana. He was the son of the late Theoel and Margaret (Lambe) Penn. Bill was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Brother. He was retired from the Kicks Radio Station with Stonecom.
Funeral services for Mary Allen, 79, of the Shiloh community of Jackson County, will be held at 1 P.M. on Friday, July 3, 2020, at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Byers Cemetery in the Center Grove community. She passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Survivors include her Husband: Joe Willard Allen of the Shiloh community of Jackson County; 1 Son: Jeff (Kim) Allen of Cookeville; 2 Daughters: Joey Allen and Jody (Clint) DeWeese, all of Cookeville; 2 Brothers: Charles Rod Clinton of Cookeville, and Harvey Clinton of Hohenwald; 2 Sisters: Mildred Smith and Lisa Mayberry, both of Cookeville; 2 Grandchildren: Joshua Allen and Ryelee DeWeese; several nieces, nephews, and other friends.The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Friday from 11 A.M. until time of services.
Funeral services for Mr. James David “Jim” Pollard, age 65 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Friday, July 3, 2020 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00am until service time at 1:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home. David Copeland will officiate. He passed away Tuesday morning, June 30, 2020, at his residence. Jim was born October 4, 1954 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late James Dallas and Oleta Irene Meek Pollard. When he was ten years old, he lost both of his parents within months of one another. He was raised by his paternal grandparents, the late Beecher Mansfield and Laura Luna Pollard, and aunt, Della Mae Pollard. Jim was a highly decorated Paramedic with two careers served in his lifetime. Jim worked hand in hand with departments all around Middle Tennessee including Hendersonville Fire Department, Gallatin Fire Department, Nashville Fire Department, and many volunteer fire and rescue departments within Middle Tennessee. Jimmy Anderson, Jake Edgar, John Michael Poss, Daren Robinson, Jeremiah Sunshine and Lori Thurman will serve the family as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Logan, Lucas and Lane Dickerson
Memorial services for Jacky Lee McCloud, 70, of Cookeville will be held Friday, July 3, 2020 at 2 PM in the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home with Chase Fletcher officiating.Jacky is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandra Randolph McCloud of Cookeville; sons, Tony McCloud and wife Jaclyn, Randy McCloud and wife Angel, and Tim McCloud; brothers, Jim McCloud and wife Yvonne, and Freddie McCloud all of Cookeville; sister, Willodean Luther and husband Richard of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Matthew McCloud, McKenzie (Chris) Davis, Sam McCloud, Nicholas McCloud, Zachary McCloud, Dylan Penley, Amara Penley, Marcus Penley and Haven Hix; and his chosen brother, Buddy (Gail) Steward of Cookeville, and their children, Shawn (Jody), Carol (Kelly), Chris (John), Cindy (Brandon).The family wishes to convey their appreciation to the staff of Caris Healthcare for the care rendered to Jacky and family. Burial will be in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends on Friday evening from 5 until 9 pm at Speck Funeral Home. Mrs. Valentine passed from this life on Sunday evening, June 28, 2020, from her residence. She was born in Pennsylvania on June 15, 1932, to the late Lester and Hazel Wert Pry. She loved her family very much and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and spending time in her flower gardens. She frequently listened to Gospel music and always found time to read her Bible. Mrs. Valentine leaves behind her daughters Betty Ann Leib and husband Earl of Mechanicsburg, PA and Linda Woodring and husband Allen of Laudisburg, PA; sons Ed Valentine and wife Grace of Lancaster, PA, Jim Valentine and wife Lila of Allons, TN, and Glen Valentine of Dayton, TX; grandchildren Erica Garber and husband Mike, Heather Leib, Jason Woodring and wife Melissa, Josh Woodring and wife Ruby, Melissa Hinnebush and husband Dan, Laura Campbell and husband Abram, Jamie Valentine and wife Lori, Brady Valentine, and Brody Valentine.
Funeral services for Bobby Clabe Johnson age 80 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday at 12:30pm at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. He passed away at his residence on Tuesday, June 30, 2020. He was a member of the McBroom Chapel Church of Christ and a retired employee of Pepsi where he was a machinist. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife Frances Donneitta Flatt Johnson of Cookeville, two sons, Teddy Ray Johnson and Roy Johnson of Cookeville; daughters, Annette Epperson of Cookeville, Sandra Bright of Baxter and Jo Ann Conner of Cookeville, sister, Anna Belle Stafford of Gainesboro, 17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Friday, July 3, 2020, 9 am to 8 pm and on Saturday, July 4 from 9 am till funeral services.
Funeral Service for Madison Elizabeth Hollingsworth, age 24, of Sparta, will begin Saturday, July 4, 2020 at 2:00 PM. She passed away on June 30, 2020, following a car accident. Madison was a life-long resident of Sparta. She graduated from White County High School in 2014 and attended Motlow State Community College for one year. She is survived by her infant son, Boston Hollis Bumbalough; Her father, Edward Hollingsworth; Maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Milner; Paternal grandparents, Willie and Janice Miller; Her fiancé, Ethan Bumbalough; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends, who all loved her dearly. Family will receive friends Saturday, July 4, 2020 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at East Sparta Church of God, funeral Service will begin Saturday, July 4, 2020 at 2:00 PM.
