Obituaries For Tuesday, June 23

James William “Jamie” Gipson, age 61, of Cookeville, passed from this life on Monday, June 22, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center surrounded by loved ones, as his soul was welcomed into Heaven. Mr. Gipson was born on October 2, 1958, in Anderson, Indiana, to the late Charles and Marjorie (Ray) Gipson of Crawford. He graduated from Rickman High School in 1976 and married the love of his life, Regina, in 1983. He was a small business owner and entrepreneur, specializing in horticulture and landscaping. For the past 12 years, one could often find him doing whatever the hell he wanted to do, which often included watching his son work on cars, dirt bikes, or four-wheelers, bragging about his kids, watching his grandchildren play outside, and playing guitar with his friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Regina Kay (Farris) Gipson of Cookeville; son and daughter-in-law, Shawn William Gipson and Candy Brown of Cookeville; daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Tyson Matheney of Cookeville; and daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Daniel Norton of Murfreesboro. Mr. Gipson was blessed with several precious grandchildren who will miss him dearly: Cecilia Anniston Gipson, Sarah Annette Uselton, Shawn Levi Gipson, Zoey Lynn Gipson, Lilly Grace Cooper, Thomas Lane Matheney, Noah Gage Norton, the future William James Norton, and newcomers: Harley, Layla, and Alissa Pollard. Additionally, he leaves behind a dear sister, Barbara (Gipson) Lawson; an adored brother, Larry Gipson; much-loved nieces and nephews, (Amy Farley, Michael Lawson, Michelle Taylor, Eric Gipson, and Kevin Gipson); and a slew of cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Hallie (Ledbetter) Ray; paternal grandparents, Charlie and Nellie (Copeland) Gipson; beloved sister, Carolyn (Gipson) Clay; admired brother-in-law, Lonnie Lawson; and several other close family members and friends. His wishes of cremation are being honored with a Celebration of Life service to be held at a later date.

Frank Howard, 91 of Cookeville passed away on Sunday June 21, 2020. Born Monday, September 24, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Franklin Howard and the late Perlie Sparks Howard. Frank is survived by: His wife of 74 years Rama Randolph Howard; One Daughter Frankie Howard Dickerson (Junior); One Son Kevin Howard (Joy). Private Interment will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Cookeville. The Family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Duane Charles Kirby, age 81, of Jamestown, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Signature of Fentress County. He was born December 17, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Duane Wilbert Kirby and Maureen Louise Kline Kirby. Mr. Kirby was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a retired assembler. Interment will be in Ohio at a later date.

Faye Curry, age 84, of Cookeville, passed away suddenly Saturday, June 20 at her home. Arrangements are incomplete.

Funeral services for Margaret Jane Wallace, age 84 of Cookeville, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday June 24 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Pastor Ed Malone will officiate. Interment will be at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Friends are invited to come by the funeral home Tuesday from 5 – 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time to sign the guest book and pay their respects. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. She passed away Saturday evening June 20, 2020 at Bailey Manor of Cookeville. She was born September 8, 1935 in Russellville, KY to the late James and Hattie Pillow DeShazer. Jane was a member of Christ Community Church. She enjoyed quilting, searching for antiques, and caring for her dogs. She is survived by her daughters, Patty (Jim) Short of Cookeville; Janet (Ronald) Smith of Bunnell, FL; grandchildren, Justin (Jeri) Chaffin, Amy (Jimmy) Watkins, Patrick (Jennifer) Short, Jake (Kristin) Short; eight great-grandchildren; and special niece, Sandra (Rodney) Silvey. Funeral services for Miss. Brenda Branch, 67 of Coookeville will be held Wednesday June 24 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with interment to follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Brenda’s family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Brenda died Sunday June 21, 2020 at 8:40 p.m. at her home.

Funeral Services for Danny Ray Denny, 43 of Sparta, will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Steve Qualls officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery in Cassville. The family will welcome friends Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. He passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born Thursday, June 2, 1977 in Nashville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Danny and Terri Denny Sr. He worked over 25 years in construction and then hospital maintenance. He enjoyed Nascar, fast cars, drag racing, barrel racing, and horses. Survivors include: Wife- April Denny, Mother- Mary Austin. Pallbearers to serve are Zach Mooneyham, David Lowe, Dennis Brown, Justin Carr, Doug Carr, Franky Greene, David Cantrell, and Jamie Lohorn.

Celebration of Life services for Mr. Seth Stanger, 44 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, June 25th at 11 a..m. in the chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. His family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a..m. until service time at the funeral home.
Seth passed away suddenly Saturday, June 20 at his home.

Funeral services for Joe Winel Anderson, 84, of the Burristown community of Jackson County, will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, June 25, 2020, at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown community of Jackson County. He passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020, at his residence. He was born September 17, 1935, in Jackson County, to the late Marshall Anderson and Gertie Boles Anderson. He was married to the late Kathryn Buck Anderson, who passed away March 14, 2008. He worked as a machine operator at Aeroquip Corp., and was a member of the Burristown Church of Christ. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 3 Daughters: Jo Ann Anderson, Brenda Heady, and Linda Hawkins; 1 Son: Billy Anderson; Brothers: Lindel, Ernest, James, and Odell; and Sisters: Estell, Ina, Izell, and Idell. Survivors include 1 Son: Wayne (Pam) Anderson of Gainesboro; 2 Brothers: Olen Anderson and Paul Anderson, both of Gainesboro; 2 Sisters: Wanda Anderson and Jearldean (Marson) Scott, all of Dayton, Ohio; Grandchildren: Holly (Darcy) Anderson, Shaun (Ashley Nicole) Anderson, Shannon (Ashley) Anderson, Nicki (JB) Stone, Shalane Ragsdale, Cameron Hawkins, and Kendall Scantland; Great Grandchildren: Madison, Makynli, Marissa, Rylee, Brodee, Preslee, Bentlie, Easton, Kenne Belle, and Baby Hawkins; 1 Daughter in Law: Kim Scantland of Gainesboro; and 2 sister-in-laws, Shelby and Mary Anderson. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 11 a.m. till the time of service. Pallbearers include: Bobby Howell, Don Howell, Fred Howell, Joe Goines, Jody O’Dell and Danny O’Dell. He passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020 in Sparta, TN. Kenneth was born on September 18, 1930 in Sparta, TN to the late Frank and Ettie Brock O’Dell. He is survived by; Son- Kevin O’Dell (Shirley); Grandson- Jessie O’Dell.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Alice Lula Belle “Boykin” Fields, age 88 of the Dodson Chapel community, will be conducted 2 pm Thursday, June 25, 2020, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Donald Parker will officiate. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Thursday from 10 am until time of services at 2 pm at Speck Funeral Home. Mrs. Fields passed from this life on Saturday afternoon, June 20, 2020, from the comfort of her residence. She was born in Clay County on April 22, 1932, to the late Walter Cleo and Lizzie Emma Stockton Boykin. She was a 1950 graduate of Cookeville High School and a member of Whitson Chapel Church of Christ. Lula enjoyed sewing and reading. She loved to work in her flowers, where the peonies were her favorite. Mrs. Fields leaves behind her loving husband of 67 years Bernard Lynn Fields of the Dodson Chapel community; daughter Vicki Paris, wife of Robert Lewis Paris of Jacksonville, FL

Funeral services for Donald Curtis Jones, age 74, of Cookeville, will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home, with Bro. Mike Kerley officiating. Burial will follow at Spears Cemetery in Putnam County. Mr. Jones passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020 at the Life Care Center of Crossville. Donald Curtis Jones was born on September 12, 1945 in Putnam County to the late Henry Louis and Sammie (Ashburn) Jones. He was a farmer and worked in agriculture. Donald was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and also a member of the Putnam County Fair Board. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Sister-In-Law: Patricia Jones, and Nephew: Mickey Hutchings. His Survivors Include: Sister & Brother-In-Law: Linda Faye (Eddie) Hutchings-Sparta; Brother: Carrol Jones-Chesterfield, MI; Nephews & Spouses: Tony & Teresa Hutchings and Jeremy & Kristin Hutchings-All of Sparta; Barry & Tracy Jones-Chesterfield, MI; Niece & Spouse: Tonya & Steve Keaton-Smithville; Host of Great Nieces and Nephews; Special Living Friend: Ruth Apple-Putnam County. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 P.M. and Thursday from 12:00 Noon till time of the service at 2:00 P.M.

Funeral Services for Richard Steven Clark, age 77 of Sparta, will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at the Central Church of Christ in Sparta. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm on Thursday until Service time at the church. Christopher Wiles will officiate the service. He passed away June 20, 2020 at his farm. He was born on July 11, 1942 in Overton County, TN to the late B.C. and Stella Maynard Clark. Richard served in the Tennessee National Guard. Richard was loved by all who knew him. He loved to laugh, and always had others laughing along with him. He had a servant’s heart and was eager to help anyone in need. He worked hard at anything he did, taking especially good care of his farm in White County, where he lived most of his life. Memorials may be made to Happy Haven Homes.

Funeral services for Kurt Craig, age 33 of Cookeville, will be at 11 a.m. Friday June 26 at Life Church in Cookeville. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the church and Friday from 10 – 11 a.m. at the church. Firefighter Craig passed away suddenly Friday June 19, 2020 at his home.
