Lorraine Beatrice Abbott, age 90 of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020 in Sparta. Mrs. Abbott was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 4, 1930 to the late Leon and Doris Sheldon Bowerman. She is the wife of Robert Abbott. No services are planned at this time.
Rainer Rudi Wolff, 73, of Hudson, Florida passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at his son and daughter-in-law’s home in Sparta, TN, with his family by his side. He was born in Stuttgart, Germany to the late Walter M. and Elfriede Wolff. He moved to Enon, Ohio at the age of 12 with his family. He became a US Citizen and proudly served in the United States Army. Graduate of Clark Technical, Springfield, Ohio, as a Civil Engineer and became a Surveyor for the County of Montgomery, Ohio. He loved the outdoors, camping, boating and with private pilot license enjoyed flying gliders. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Christie Wolff, one brother in Germany, Werner (Renate) Wolff. A celebration of life will be held on a later date. Funeral services for Bethel B. “Pete” Pippin, age 86, of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday June 20, 2020 at 11:00am from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Bro. Floyd Farris will officiate at the service and Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. The burial will follow at the Cookeville City Cemetery. Bethel B. Pippin was born on October 9, 1933 in Jackson County to the late Benton and Lizzie Mae Chaffin Pippin. He passed away on Tuesday June 16, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. Mr. Pippin worked for the State of Tennessee School System until he retired. He was a member of the Shiloh Church of Christ. During his life time he enjoyed gardening and Farming and anything outside but most of all he loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by; Wife: Joyce Ann Pippin. His family includes: Son: Ricky Pippin; Daughter: Debbie Damaschun; 7 Grandchildren: Jason Damaschun, Steve Damaschun, Rick Pippin Jr., Rachel Pippin, Kate McCollum, Eli Pippin and Olivia Pippin; 9 Great Grandchildren: Evan Damaschun, Molly McCollum, Hannah Pippin, Jared McCollum, Caroline Pippin, Laurel Pippin, Gabe Pippin, Cole McCollum, Jason Pippin; 1 Sister and brother in-law: Betty and William Sherrill; 1 Brother: Bill Pippin; A Host of Nieces and Nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at the Funeral home on Thursday from 2:00pm until 9:00pm, Friday from 8:00am until 9:00pm and on Saturday from 8:00am until time of services at 11:00am.

She was born in Houston Texas on April 11, 1978 to Joseph Franklin Cates, and the late Kathryn Ann Hogue. April worked as a CNA for Standing Stone Care & Rehabilitation Services. She enjoyed social media, camping, fishing, and the Dallas Cowboys. April leaves behind her husband, Jason Bryan Cope of Hilham, TN; daughter, Jasmine Cope of Hilham, TN; sons, Tyler Cates & wife Kayla of CA, Isacc Steward of MT, and Jacob Cope of Hilham, TN; grandson, Grayson Cates; brother, Alvin Cates of FL; sister, Honey Moon & husband James of Byrdstown, TN; and aunt Sheila Walker of Jamestown, TN.
Funeral services for Mr. William ‘Bill’ Harrison Carter, age 84 of Algood, will be held Sunday, June 21st at 3:00 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Rev. Diantha S McLeod will officiate. Interment will follow in Algood Heritage Cemetery. Friends are invited to come by the funeral home to sign the guest book and pay their respects on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. He died Tuesday morning, June 16, 2020 at his residence. He was born July 23, 1935 in Smith Grove, KY to the late William Carter and Rena Parrish Carter. He moved to Algood at age 25. Bill was employed as a truck driver for Rogers Group in Algood for over 20 years and previously worked at TVA. Bill enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing. He will be fondly remembered for his funny and loving nature. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church in Oakland, KY. He is survived by son, William Carter III, of Algood; daughter, April Carter of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Ashley Carter, Brittany Carter and Jasmine Carter; seven great grandchildren; sister, Matie Harrford of Bowling Green, KY; five nephews from Bowling Green, special friend, Donald Hayes of Algood; and by his beloved dog, Sugar. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in the Chowing Cemetery. Nina passed from this life on Thursday afternoon, June 18, 2020, from Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on July 10, 1931, to the late Willie “Bill” Chat and Carmen May Stover. Nina loved quilting, sewing, and making beautiful works of art with her needle and thread. She enjoyed gardening, going to church, and spending time with her family. She always had a beautiful smile on her face. Mrs. Melton leaves behind her sons Lonnie Melton and wife Debbie of Jacksonville, Florida and Larry Melton and Joan of Allons; daughters Linda Brower and husband Rodney of Nashville, Gaye Mott and the late Rickey of Sparta, Ila Robbins and husband Ronnie of Livingston, and Julia Poston and husband Steve of Rickman; grandchildren Mary Kathryn Melton, Greg Borden, Becky Pemerton, Alex Brower, Brandon Melton, Landon Melton, Bryan Melton, Jason Mott, Danyelle Hawkins, Kelsey Robbins, Megan Robbins, Abby Poston, Andrew Poston, Chris Melton, Valerie Melton, Ethan Guy, and Julianne Guy; great grandchildren Shelby and Samantha Melton, Sarah and Austin Melton, Leah Kate, Mitchell, and Myla Beth Melton, Aylah and Ansley Mott, Brayden and Brynn Hawkins, Thor Goff, Xander and Asher Carwile, and Madalynn Pemerton; great great grandchildren Rheagan and Seth Loughman; a host of nieces and nephews; sister Willa Dean Mayberry of Monroe; brother Ben Stover and wife Kathy of Woodville, Texas; and special friends Anna Grace Melton, Amanda Watkins, Elaine Maxfield, Tommie Hensley, and Peggy Hunter.
