Livingston Splash Pad Opening

The splash pad in Livingston’s Central Park will reopen to the public on Friday.

Livingston Mayor Curtis Hayes said even though the splash pad and playgrounds are opening back up, everyone still needs to be aware of social distancing.

“Everyone has to take some ownership in this COVID-19 pandemic,” Hayes said. “Wear gloves and masks if you feel that’s what you need to do. Wash your hands and cover your mouth and nose if you cough and sneeze.”

Hayes said the City of Livingston is following the lead of other communities in reopening parks. He said he believes people are ready to get back outdoors.

“Everybody is ready to get out of the house now,” Hayes said. “The sun’s shining bright, and folks have cabin fever. Some of the things you can do is take your kids or grandkids to the park. We’ve certainly had a few calls on it. And it’s just time as other areas across the State of Tennessee has opened theirs. We did a little maintenance on ours to make sure everything is rocking and rolling and as good as it can be.”

Getting the parks back up and running, Hayes said, benefits the city. He said it is something he’s been anticipating.

“We’re happy to be opening our playgrounds back up at our city parks,” Hayes said. “We’re happy to start the splash pad. We ask folks to come out and support our parks.”

Central Park in Livingston will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
