A Tuesday morning wreck that closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 for several hours has left an Arkansas woman dead.
29-year-old Jessica Maie Detter was a passenger in a car driven by 40-year-old Orrin William Burbank of Geneva, MN. The two were traveling eastbound near mile marker 276 around 5:30am Tuesday morning.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Burbank lost control of his car as it slid into the left shoulder cable barrier. When Burbank over-corrected, the car returned to the roadway and began to rollover. Both Burbank and Detter were ejected from the car.
The THP report said neither was wearing seatbelts.
Burbank was airlifted from the scene. Two children were also in the car, both were restrained. Neither was injured.
Charges are pending.
