Obituaries For Tuesday, June 16

Nell Ruth Smith,85, of Sparta, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020 in Sparta. She was born in Speedwell, Tennessee to the late Oscar and Hallie Beeler Parton on March 31, 1935. Nell is survived by; Son- Denver Gene Parton (Barbara); Grandson- Scott; Granddaughters- Cassie, Shay and Hallie; A Special Granddaughter- Riley. A Memorial Service will be held on a later date in North Carolina.

Graveside services for Michael (Mike) Allen Adcock, age 74 of Sparta, will be conducted at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 11:00am. The family will receive friends at the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 16th from 4:00-8:00pm. Officiating will be Gary McBride. He passed away Sunday, June 14, 2020, at St. Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta, Tennessee. He was born in the Peeled Chestnut community on September 24, 1945, to the late George Estes and Laura Belle LaFever Adcock. Mike had been a construction worker and farmer. He especially loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Gail Rowland Adcock; daughter and son-in-law Deneane and Mitch Robbins; son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Kathryn Adcock; grandsons Hyle (Shelby) Robbins, Hayden Robbins (Gracie Judkins), and Rob Adcock, along with step-granddaughter Kayleigh (Dustin) Allen, and step-great-grandsons Zade and Ryatt. Other survivors include sister Michelle Adcock, sisters-in-law Marilyn (Danny) Jolley, Brenda (Don) Lowery, JoAnn Adcock; and aunt Lorelle Goodwin. Several cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pisgah Cemetery c/o Hunter Funeral Home, PO Box 90, Sparta, TN 38583.

Funeral Services for Robert Lee Earl Sartin Sr., 67, of Doyle, will be Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Pentecostals of Sparta Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Michael Weedman officiating, burial will follow at Young Cemetery. He passed away Sunday, June 14, 2020 in Nashville, TN. Mr. Sartin was born on September 9, 1952 in Stevenson, AL. Mr. Sartin is survived by wife Martha Sartin; children: Ronald Sartin and Wife Sonya, Lela Venable and husband Jimmy, Claude Sartin and wife Teresa and Robert Sartin Jr. and wife Hattie. The family will receive friends on Tuesday June 16, 2020 from 6-9pm at Pentecostals of Sparta Church.

A Memorial Service for Ronnie Leon Bennett, 72 of Sparta, will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. He passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. He was born Thursday, January 8, 1948 in Rickman, TN, he was the son of the late Cecil and Pauline Thompson Bennett. Ronnie served as Director of White County EMS for 25 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Shane Maples. Survivors include: Wife- Jane Bennett of Sparta; Sons- Chip Bennett (Renee) of Cookeville, and Jon Bennett (Kris) of McMinnville; Daughter-in-law- Amanda Maples (Wife of Shane Maples); Grandsons- Dustin Bennett, Austin Bennett, Kai Bennett, Kase Bennett, Stephen Maples, and Daniel Maples; Granddaughters- Jordan Bennett, Sailor Bennett, Taylor Claborn and Lexi Maples; Great-Grandchildren- Gavin, Ivy, Decklan, Alex, Felicity, and Gwen. The family will welcome immediate family and close friends on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until time of the service at the funeral home. Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, the family has requested only immediate family and close friends attend services. All attendees are asked to practice social distancing precautions at all times.

Funeral services for Martha Vayelene Gregory, age 79, of Cookeville will be held Thursday, June 18 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home with family members officiating. Interment will be in the West Cemetery in the Burgess Falls community at a later date. Due to COVID-19 precautions, social distancing will be observed. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3 PM to 5 PM and Thursday 11 AM until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Gregory passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020 at her home. She was born May 26, 1941 in Cookeville, TN to the late William Haskell Judd and Dula Malinda Lindsey Judd. Martha attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She donated to Toys for Tots, Shriners and Boys Town. She enjoyed her flowers, bingo, and watching WWE Wrestling. She is survived by two sons, Joseph Gregory of Huntsville, AL and Joie Gregory of Stockbridge, GA; daughter, Regina Gentry of Cookeville, TN; grandchildren, Christina Root, Jason Steward, Dustin Steward, Jennifer Gregory, Kyle Gregory, Holden Gregory and Dylan Gregory.

Memorial services for Derrill Kern, age 78 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday June 18 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Friends are invited to come by the funeral home to sign the guest book and pay their respects on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Derrill passed away Sunday June 14, 2020 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Private family graveside services and interment for Olga Langford Kinnaird, 93, of Cookeville, will be held Friday, June 19th at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Rev. Matt McClanahan will officiate. Friends are invited to come by the funeral home to sign the guest book and pay their respects on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed. Mrs. Kinnaird died Monday morning, June 15, 2020 at her residence.

Funeral Services for Mr. Elmer Leon Flatt, age 93, of Livingston will be conducted 11 a.m., Friday, June 19, 2020 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Jon Ledbetter, and Bro. Henry Colbert will officiate. Burial to follow in the Campground Cemetery, with Military Honors provided at graveside by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will welcome friends on Thursday evening from 5 until 9 p.m. at Speck Funeral Home. Mr. Flatt passed from this life on Saturday morning, June 13, 2020 from his residence. He was born in Jackson County, Tennessee on April 22, 1927 to the late Wesley G. & Minnie Ray Brown Flatt. Leon worked for 45 years for the General Motors Company. He met the love of his life on the Livingston Court House Square in 1956 and married her on May 29, 1956.. Leon enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, farming, raising cattle, and chickens He enjoyed listening to Hank Williams Sr, Patsy Cline, and Loretta Lynn. Leon leaves behind his loving wife, Reba Ann Gore Flatt, of Livingston, TN; son, Dale Flatt & wife Lydia of Livingston, TN; daughter, Maleah Mitchell & husband Col. Mark Mitchell of Ft. Stewart, GA; grandchildren, Wesley Flatt, Daniel Flatt & wife Halie, Cassandra Mitchell, Caleb Mitchell, and 2nd LT. Olivia Mitchell; great-grandson, Brayden Mitchell-Kniffen.

Funeral Services for Mr. James Michael “Mike” Brown age 60 of Ocala, Florida and formerly of Livingston, will be held Friday, June 19, 2020 at 2 PM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Okolona Cemetery in Overton Co. He passed away in Ocala on Saturday, June 13, 2020. Mr. James Michael “Mike” Brown was born in Livingston, Overton Co., TN on Sunday, December 6, 1959 to the late Mildred Brown Livingston. Mike worked as a painter by trade and he was of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include 1 Son: Josh Brown and his wife Jessica; 2 Daughters: Chaska Davidson and her husband Michael (Cowboy), Jamie White and her husband Toby; 7 Grandchildren: Tyler Brown, Ellie, Addie, Sylvie White, Halley, Maddie , Taylor Brown. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, 19th starting at 11 AM. Officiating the service will be Bro. Kevin Clark.

A memorial service for Mrs Nina Mae Young, age 87, of Cookeville, will be held on Saturday June 20, 2020 at 2:00pm at Colonial View Baptist Church. She Passed away on Friday June 12, 2020.
