Avalee Jane Edwards, age 91 of Sparta, formerly of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at her residence. Funeral Service will be held in Battle Creek, Michigan along with burial in the Fort Custer Veterans Memorial Cemetery. No Local Services are planned.
James Bell Hartman Sr.,74, of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020 in Sparta. He was born December 4, 1945 in Scottsville, Kentucky to the late Robert Petty and Edna Mae Barbee Hartman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings- Richard Hartman, Robbie Shrum, Mary Jane Hartman, Ray Hartman, Norma Grimsley and Jack Hartman. Mr. Hartman is survived by: Wife- Alice Marie Judd Hartman; Children- Tina (Troy) Hickey, Pamela (Ken) McDowell and James “Jim” (Sonia) Hartman Jr. 10 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren. No Services are scheduled at this time.

Mr. Matthews Passed Away On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, At His Home. Mr. Matthews Was A Truck Driver And A Factory Worker. He Worshipped At Lakeview Baptist Church. Mrs. Geer Passed Away On Saturday, June 6, 2020, At Samaritan Village Assisted Living In Hughson, California. Mrs. Geer Was Retired From Fleetguard With 30 Years’ Service. She Along With Her Husband Had Multiple Businesses Including Geer’s Hot Spot And Corner Grill In Downtown Monterey. She Was Baptist In Faith And Was A Member Of Monterey Eastern Star Chapter # 502. She Is Survived By, 2 Daughters And A Son-In-Law, Crystal Charlene And Michael Kaiser Of Soddy Daisy, TN, Margaret Ann Geer Of Morro Bay, CA; 2 Sons And A Daughter-In-Law, Johnny Allen And Sherrie Geer Of Hilmar, CA, Travis Ray Geer Of Cookeville, TN; 5 Grandchildren, Tyler Kaiser, Hanna Kaiser, Devin Geer, Heather Hicks And Terra Nova Hicks; 5 Great Grandchildren, Drake Buckner, Gage Buckner, Zane Buckner, Jayden Buckner And Lotus Baker; And 1 Great Great Grandchild, Rosealee Buckner. Funeral service for Gregory Lynn Roberts, age 56 of Sparta will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, June 13, 2020 in the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. He passed away at his home peacefully with family present on June 10, 2020. Greg was born Sept. 1, 1963. He was the son of Gladys Young Roberts and the late James Roberts. He was also preceded in death by his brother: Freddie Roberts and baby brother Earl, Grandparents: Dib and Daisy Young, and a niece Sheena Roberts. Greg is survived by his mother : Gladys Young Roberts Garrell of Sparta; Children: Albert Hutson of Sparta, Courtney Baxter & grandson Liam of Gallatin, Dakota Hagan of Sparta and Little friend: Serenity; Brother: Billy (Michelle) Roberts of Sparta; Sister: Mary Fish of Sparta; Also survived by a host of other family and friends. He was a avid NASCAR & Dale Earnhardt fan. He enjoyed working on cars and watching old classic westerns. He also enjoyed cooking breakfast, his favorite. His son Dakota loved his burgers. Nieces, Erin & Elyssa always enjoyed eating breakfast with him when he lived next door. Greg loved banana pudding, especially his mom’s. He loved his kids and family. He will be truly missed but is resting and at peace now. The family will receive friends from 5pm until 8pm on Friday evening. Bro. Doug Benningfield will officiate the services.

Mr. Shane Steward will officiate. Matthew passed away peacefully Monday June 8, 2020 at his residence. He was born November 22, 1988 in Griffin to Debbie James (Steve) Cummins and the late Jeffrey Howard James. Matthew worked in the construction business. He enjoyed outdoor activities, playing many sports, listening to and playing music, and discussing politics. He loved life, his family and friends, and paying it forward. His family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life Gathering for William “Mike” Michael McManus, 69 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, June 13, 2020, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. He passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Mike was born Friday, April 27, 1951, in Great Lakes, Illinois. Mike was a loving Husband, Father, Gpa, and Papa. He was a Teamster truck driver for 35 plus years. When Mike retired from truck driving, he became a handyman which he really enjoyed. He was an avid hunter, fishermen, enjoyed riding his red Honda Goldwing motorcycle, and loved to two-step with his wife. Mike is survived by, Wife Dorene McManus; Daughter, Melanie McManus and Jerome Martinek; Son, Matthew McManus; 3 Grandchildren, Brock Larson, Daria Larson, and Logan McManus Brother-In-Law Gary Waters; Special Nieces, Amber and Steve Drier and their children, Hannah and Lucy and Tiffany and Sawyer Butterfield and their children, Ella and Wesley. Mike was preceded in death by his Brother From Another Mother, David White.
Funeral services for Anna Love Powell Ray, age 92 of Cookeville, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday June 14 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will be at Phillips Cemetery. Pastor Adam Pharris will officiate. She passed away suddenly Thursday afternoon June 11, 2020 at her home. Friends are invited to come by the funeral home to sign the guest book and pay their respects on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Due to Covid-19 precautions, social distance measures will be observed.
