Crossville’s Art Circle Public Library has been reopened for a week with no issues so far.
Director Administrative Assistant Wayne Shobel said about 250 people currently visit the library a day, half of what it used to be. He said the community is happy the library’s doors are open again.
“The public is loving it,” Shobel said. “We’re doing the best we can with what we’ve got at this time. Our employees are required once they’re in public areas, outside of their offices or beyond the screen areas, to wear a mask. We would prefer if our patrons wear a mask, but it’s not a requirement.”
Library officials have reduced public computer access from 28 computers to 7. Shobel said visitors are not allowed to sit or use the tables.
Shobel said this year will be the first year an adult summer reading program is available.
“We’re doing summer programs virtually this year,” Shobel said. “Our childrens programs, adult, we have teenage programs which we normally run in the summer are being done online. We’re sending materials to the people that are participating.”
Book and DVD check outs remain the same. Shobel said the library will begin to be open Saturdays this week.
