Art Prowl Director Excited For Cookeville’s Art Future

The new director of Cookeville’s Art Prowl said she’s excited to see what the future holds for Cookeville’s art scene.

Jen Luna took the job this spring. She said she believes Cookeville’s art scene is vibrant for a small town.

“Really, there’s so many talented people here that I think a lot of people don’t even know about,” Luna said. “They aren’t aware of them. There’s a few bigger names that people have heard of, but there’s so many younger, talented artists around town that I think more people need the opportunity to see their work.”

As director, Luna recruits artists and businesses around town to house artwork for the annual Art Prowl in November. She’s been a member of Art Prowl since 2017 as a textile artist.

Luna said she hopes to spread awareness of the program, especially to the younger generation of artists.

“I hope to bring maybe fresher ideas, make it more inviting for a younger crowd,” Luna said. “The older crowd as well, but get younger people involved in the arts and know what kind of options young people have for a career as an artist.”

Art Prowl is a part of Art Round Tennessee, an artist organization that installs public art such as the spokes sculpture on the West Side. Cookeville’s Art Prowl is November 13 and 14.
