Teia Arms Is New Clay County HS Principal

Teia Arms will become Clay County High School’s new principal.

Born and raised in Clay County, Arms has taught math for over 20 years. Arms said she expects her students to take ownership in their actions and education. But at the same time, let her students know their teachers care about them.

“Trust between you and the staff, making sure every kid that walks through the door is a top priority, making sure all the students and staff feel safe and basically, continuing to grow our students academically,” Arms said.

Arms said she is excited for her new role. But is also nervous due to the unknown plans for next school year. Until plans are known, Arms is preparing the best she can.

“We have been having weekly meetings discussing of what plans we have for the upcoming school year,” Arms said. “We have been having plan A and plan B. We are going to have several different options depending on what the CDC guidelines are at that time.”

Arms said her staff is currently training to become Google certified. Google certified educators are proficient in at home teaching and the use of Google technology for education. There are currently no official plans for the next school year.

Teia Arms ran the Clay County Alternative School for three years and coached high school and junior high basketball for Clay County.
