A former Putnam County minister pled guilty Monday to two felonies involving the sexual exploitation of a minor.
Phillip Carlen Loftis will be placed on the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry for at least ten years. He pled guilty to solicitation of the sexual exploitation of a minor and attempted aggravated statutory rape. Both are Class E felonies.
The investigation began last September. Loftis used an online chat program to converse with someone he believed-to-be a 13-year-old girl. The girl was actually a law enforcement agent. Loftis told the supposed girl he wanted to engage in sexual acts and sent illicit photos.
District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway said the search continues for any possible victims in the case.
“The attempt by Loftis to victimize children is of great concern,” Dunaway said. “Due to the nature of these charges and the fact that Loftis has had access to children in his profession, the public is asked to contact the District Attorney’s office or your local law enforcement agency if you aware of any other potential victims.”
Both the TBI and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation worked on the case.
