Tennessee Driver Services Centers across the Upper Cumberland reopened Monday with online options to help consumers.
The state website at TN.Gov now shows wait times at offices across the region. At mid-afternoon Monday, there was no wait at the McMinnville office, while the wait time at Cookeville stood at 75 minutes, and 15 minutes at Crossville.
The state also launched E-Tickets to allow customers to place themselves in a virtual line before arriving at the center. E-Tickets are not appointments but rather a holding place in line. After successfully requesting an E-Ticket, customers will have two hours to arrive and check in at the selected center.
Residents can also make an appointment. Appointments can be made for knowledge tests, reinstatement, and other transactions.
The state will resume issuing the new federal drivers license REAL ID on July 6. COVID-19 forced the federal government to extend the implementation of this new security protocol until October, 2021. Residents cannot obtain a real ID currently.
Through the state’s E-Services section online, drivers can prepare a new drivers license application, renew a drivers license or CDL, order a duplicate care, schedule a road skills appointment or take a practice test.
Road skills appointments will resume Monday, June 15. Between now and then, skills tests cancelled over the last two months will be rescheduled. The local drivers services staff will contact drivers who missed appointments.
Knowledge tests will be available at all full-service centers. Tests will be available by appointment beginning May 26.
