FEMA’s total distribution to Putnam County residents affected by the March 3 tornado will total nearly $740,000.
Monday marked the deadline for individuals to apply for FEMA relief. Public Affairs Specialist Cheria Brown said some 112 individuals have applied and been approved for FEMA assistance in Putnam County.
More than $493,000 in individual and household assistance has already been approved. Brown said an additional $245,400 has been approved for housing assistance to the tornado victims.
The Small Business Administration approved 56 loans in Putnam County, totaling more than $4.1 million. Public Affairs Specialist Julie Garrett said 54 homeowners were approved for loans. Two went to businesses that suffered physical damage.
FEMA will also reimburse city and county government for parts of its expenses in cleaning up after the storm. That process will be separate from the individual assistance.
