Power outages reported across the Upper Cumberland Sunday evening as strong storms pushed straight-line winds of at least 50 mph across the area.
Upper Cumberland Electric’s Cookeville office reports outages in the Highway 70 corridor including Buffalo Valley Rd, Hawkins Crawford Rd, West Gate Rd, Reecer Ln, Locust Grove Rd, Double Springs Rd. Outages also being reported in the Algood area including Floating Mill Rd. Buck Mountain, Falling Water, Old Qualls Rd, N Plantation, 1st Ave in Algood, Hilham Road, Fisk Road.
Both Putnam County and Overton County 911 reported multiple trees down across the county and power outages.
Volunteer Energy reports about 700 customers without power in the Crossville area Sunday evening as of 7pm. Power expected to be restored by 9pm. Multiple reports of tree damage along highway 127 South in the Lake Tansi area.
Caney Fork Electric reports multiple outages in the Morrison area affecting customers along Highway 53 in Warren and Dekalb Counties.
The Carthage district of Upper Cumberland Electric reports wide-spread outages in its area.= including Smith, Dekalb, and Macon Counties.
Middle Tennessee Natural Gas reported several issues with trees uprooted.
Cookeville Electric worked outages around Old Walton Rd, S. Maple Ave, E. Veterans Dr, S. Jefferson Ave and E. Stevens Street and had power restored in about 30 minutes. An earlier outage around Highway 111 was repaired within about 30 minutes.
Utilities ask that you please do not call 911 to report outages. Also, customers are asked not to post outages to Facebook to protect yourself from criminals.
A tornado warning issued just before 530pm for western sections of Jackson County and northern sections of Smith County. The Weather Service reported circulation possible in that area amidst winds of 70-90 mph. Several reports of damage in Smith County, but no funnel sightings.
