Jackson County High School will have a physical graduation for 2020 seniors.
Director Kristy Brown said school officials are working with the health department to ensure participant safety.
“We have listened to our community and got input from our senior class,” Brown said. “The plan right now is to do something as traditional as possible and still adhere to the safety guidelines the state and the health officials have put out for us.”
The school board plans to maintain the original May 22 graduation date. Brown said social distancing and a limited guest number are some precautions the board will implement.
Brown said student work should be finished and graded by May 15. She said each school will have their own plan to wrap up the school year.
“Course this has been very challenging, and guidelines change often,” Brown said. “We try to keep up with the most current guidance and information that we can.”
Summer programming will be available virtually. Brown said the board and principals are discussing two or three different scenarios with how the next school year will proceed. She said schools could have a delayed opening.
